wah 7mm spacer...thats extreme! Actually, the concern is the way the spokes are design when taking into consideration the mounting surface of the wheel, some wheel's spoke curves or taper inwards, limiting caliper clearance. I had a chance to try 3 different wheels with the same offset of +40, and only the one I use now touches the caliper, other 2 wheels (my old one and my friend's) no problem. Anyway, there is a big difference now that I changed from 16"to 15" i'll probably write about it later. Ain't sure what's the off set. My previous 17"x7jj rim (pre-owned) also fail to clear my caliper due to the design I think. need 7mm spacer to clear. This 17"x7.5jj, technically, wider = more room from the center of the rim to edge or rim surface (7"/2 vs 7.5"/2). It clear stock caliper easily and I think should be no issue for bigger BBK.

..what's your offset for the 7.5"? Our stock is either +38 or +40 ..cos i never had the stock wheels? The 16" i had was a +40 but I don't recall the width ...so I got a new 15x6.5 in +40 and it fouled the calipers! Had to use 2mm washers to create the clearance .. ;D

the car came with an open pod ..i tried looking for a stock box, no luck with that .. in fact i had to remove stuff from the previous owner which were not to my taste .. anyone with a 7" wide rim? Whats the correct offset to clear fenders and calipers?

the usual suspension mods are to lower the ride height ..so to go the other way, add spacers under the springs? I read in the USA Hyundai forums, Tiburon (Tuscani) standard rear suspension struts are actually 10mm taller that the Eleantra. And the Elantra is a very close relative to our Cerato ...

..upsize the tyre? Ample ground clearance for sure but it may look too tall? ..

Park head in first, get near to kerb ..then kena audio confirmation ...scratchhhhh .. i usually open door to peep since these incidents ..except for one occasion when i total misjudge driving to a high kerb to insert cashcard for parking ..deeep scratch and crack the bumper a bit. Stock spring usually quite soft especially for the rear and since 5 person (adult) in the car, ur rear will looks more lower than lowering spring! One old driving practice maybe could help is open the door n look behind to ensure it won't knock the kerbs. Just curious how u get scratch to ur front skirt? What color of v1 u driving?

most of the scratches occur with 5 persons in car ...the places I go to have tall kerbs I think., myneighbourhood carpark is an example ...I avoid as best i can ..but it is uaually too late by the time I get realised Of all the cars I owned (this is my 4th car) this cerato has the lowest clearance! Ok, if I de-kit in bodyshop, what would they do with the rivet holes ah? Also fog lights removed i think ...

Hello fellow Cerato owners .. I find a problem with my v1 clearance, I am always scratching my front and or rear bumpers. Car's on stock springs & shocks and working as it should and factory-sized tyre & wheel. I am assuming mine came with factory bumper lips and lower rear bumpers ..not sure though
So, anyway to remove these and swap for whatever is normal so helping with my clearance ..?

I think Lead is banned, if not worldwide, at least in all developed countries I think Lead is used to raise fuel octanes? Anyway F1 suppose to use regular everyday fuel ..

You got the problem sorted? Care to elaborate ...if car on the move and you turn on air-con it won't stall yeah? SOunds like an electrical gremlin ...cos the compressor does take a big current hit when it comes on. You added any gadget to your car last year before this problem started?

Fine to mix octane, limited to the lowest acceptable for the particular stock engine. More advance engines with knock sensors will compensate ignition timing when it detects a lower grade than its recommended i.e min. requirement RON95 but running RON92

..great! Lets hope this thread show up the "best" petrol to use! .. SPC doesn't work for me, I feel it really lacks ooomph. Caltex probably same as ESSO for me ...anyhow, my best discounts are ESSO and Caltex, so that limits my experimentation!

RON grades meets a standards requirements i.e 92, 95 98 etc which determines how the petrol burns within operating parameters. In this regard no "difference" when one use brand A 95 vs brand B 95, and octane rating is not indicative of the fuel's energy content.
Difference between brands (and within same brand) are the additives package - which promises to clean better, burn better, gives better mileage etc.
I think Shell's V-Power is RON98 rated but there is a difference with their regular 98, it does feel more powerful to my butt dyno, probably the additive package packs in a higher energy content?
When I was riding a small-engined scooter years ago, I did a simple comparison between ESSO and Shell. Same RON92, maxed out throttle the ESSO gave me 125km/h vs the 120km/h of the Shell, same mileage to my fuel economy for them both, so I stayed with ESSO ever since.
Now I use ESSO 92 mainly as I experienced no real benefit using their 95 ...have not done other forms of comparisons, so...just my experiences to date, definitely not definite!

I drive an 05 manual sedan since late 09 and i must say it's been trouble-free! But i did change my brake hoses as part of the preventive maintenance routine ...I have yet to achieve the kind of fuel efficiency i been reading ...

oops mistake I made ..its 80/20 streets/highways .. I am so opposite of what you do! Not waxed my car, in fact never waxed any of my cars before ..seldom wash also..hahahaha Its got an open pod filter, my tyres are usually pumped to about 10-15% of max pressure - which is suppose to help with FC. Alas, I don't have the patience to change up early but i do try and coast and anticipate change of signal light when driving on streets.

wah .... mine is V1, any difference in engine? I assume car weight about the same. My drives are usually short distances, perhaps more like 80/20 highways/streets and half my driving with 4/5 person... how you get such good returns ah ..wats the secret

12km/l FC..thats nice! I am getting about 10.5 km/l for my manual. When I bought this car, first thing I did was replace the very worned out Goodyear F1 with the Kumho KU31. And 2 moths later took it on a long road trip up north and really tested myself, the car and the tyres. I don't like the car dynamics when executing fast lane changing at NS highway speeds, but fast sweepers on My trunk roads in both dry and wet are really fantastic with the KU31. In fact with the 16", I really like the straightline stability! Driving in our congested roads, I have no complains except hoping to improve the FC, but I think I want to try 15" now ...

Tks, looks like getting back to original size helps! How is the original 195 section less stable than the 205? Due to tyre sidewall stiffness maybe? headache time trying to decide what to do next

Hello everyone,
My 05 Cerato have 16" wheels by previous owner, since 09/09 I have Kumho KU31 fitted. I am ready to consider options and wonder how much of weight saving if I revert back to original size 195/60 R15 tyre and wheels combo?
Anyone has anything to recommend in terms of light weight 15" wheels and good stick tyres?

Hi all,
Just bought a used manual Cerato and have filled up with RON95 petrol. The User Manual states RON91 as minimum. Anyone used our local RON92? Is it safe to use the lower octane rating for our kind of city driving and knocking problems?
Thanks much for reading!
