hey bro, wanna check with u guys, is thr any difference in different brand and grade of fuel? currently im pumping SPC 95, usually i will top up when my fuel reach 1/4, and i will nid to top up 3/4 of my tank every 4 days.
Recently heard from my friend different brand and different grade can provide different milage, so far i only used SPC because of the discount. So can everyone give your opinion and advice?

our rides can take 92... but i noticed there's a significant drop of power if on 92... i suggest u stick to 95 or higher..
as for petrol brands... I've always been on ESSOnMOBIL... so cannot really comment...

i always on esso 95, 98 ok 92 loss of power but mileage like the same WS told me if i try to save money using 92 then we tend to zua for more power end up harming engine so might as well use 95 and protect it
used caltex once gave me 7km/L the wife ban me from using since. lol

I always use the lowest possible grade of petrol available. Used to use Shell 92.......now using SPC92.
Tested SPC95......like no diff leh. Same power, same mileage.....
Only Shell V-Power got diff......the rest like BS

RON grades meets a standards requirements i.e 92, 95 98 etc which determines how the petrol burns within operating parameters. In this regard no "difference" when one use brand A 95 vs brand B 95, and octane rating is not indicative of the fuel's energy content.
Difference between brands (and within same brand) are the additives package - which promises to clean better, burn better, gives better mileage etc.
I think Shell's V-Power is RON98 rated but there is a difference with their regular 98, it does feel more powerful to my butt dyno, probably the additive package packs in a higher energy content?
When I was riding a small-engined scooter years ago, I did a simple comparison between ESSO and Shell. Same RON92, maxed out throttle the ESSO gave me 125km/h vs the 120km/h of the Shell, same mileage to my fuel economy for them both, so I stayed with ESSO ever since.
Now I use ESSO 92 mainly as I experienced no real benefit using their 95 ...have not done other forms of comparisons, so...just my experiences to date, definitely not definite!

i jus emptied my SPC tank yesterday, and pump in full tank of ESSO 5000, car seems to goin faster with less rev. price between their 2000 and 5000 are very little, and if like sky bro says about drop in power, then I guess i will stick with 5000. once i finish this tank, i will be filling with caltex 95 haha

..great! Lets hope this thread show up the "best" petrol to use! .. SPC doesn't work for me, I feel it really lacks ooomph. Caltex probably same as ESSO for me ...anyhow, my best discounts are ESSO and Caltex, so that limits my experimentation!

after my research, I found out that esso smile point uses the least points to redeem fuel voucher, +1 point for ESSO! I have all brand of credit for all fuel, but below is the list of discount for all bro reference. POSB (SPC -15% + 3% REBATE!) - WIN! DBS (ESSO, -18%) OCBC (CALTEX, -15%) UOB (SHELL -15%)
But points wise ESSO win, price wise SPC win, performance SHELL & ESSO win. CALTEX nothing special, just 'clean' ur engine.
Hope this helps all bro =)

Dis-Regarding the amount of discounts offered by each brand, I would rate (in terms of best mileage):
1. Shell 2. Exxon Mobil 3. Caltex 4. SPC

I've once sopken to a person working in Shell's Lubrication (eg. engine oil & such)... had a discussion with him regarding Shell's Vpower as compared to our brands...
These are generally what he said,
1. all brands petrol, will meet the same specification of RON as stated... no difference in this (as what unocvin said).
2. some brands will have additives to better clean yr engine or allows more complete burning (again said by unocvin)
3. Vpower may give you the initial pickup... ie. u may be able to overtake the car beside you when the light turns green... but when the other bugger catches up with you... & cruise beside you... then there's actually not much difference between petrol brands...
4. & he said this... SG's Shell's Vpower is too expensive... no need to pump this grade... pum MY's Vpower to clear your carbon whenever u travel north... wahahahaa...

Talking about this. I was told V-Power has all the ingredient additives used in F1 race......except one. I suspect it is Lead, so I don't drive near to the venue when the race is on. I afraid it may screw my catalytic converter. Anyone here of this before...... I think Lead is banned, if not worldwide, at least in all developed countries I think Lead is used to raise fuel octanes? Anyway F1 suppose to use regular everyday fuel ..

Banned on the road vehicle, not racing car. And lead is an inhibitor to prevent knocking........ I think Lead is banned, if not worldwide, at least in all developed countries I think Lead is used to raise fuel octanes? Anyway F1 suppose to use regular everyday fuel ..
