In response to this thread. I've done a number of things to my Kia Koup 1.6A. Some may be pretty controversial, might even have a counter effect on my performance. But it's all trial and error i guess since it's a fairly new car. UTR Power Charger 5000 & 6000 (with 0 AWG cable), lightweight crankshaft pulley, auto charger from Night Concepts (basically attached to your brake line acting as a vacuum - sort of a way to cheat the ECU), Fujita open pod CAI, exhaust (i won't elaborate further due to certain reasons), and finally the OEP by HM. Having different trial and errors including an Apollo kit form Mcwell V (very bad choice). Anyway difference between pre-OEP and post. Due to my set-up, low ends are pretty bad, kicks in only after 40km/hr. The OEP did help quite a fair bit, throttle response is definitely better. Saves you money from adding in all the Throttle control etc, especially for the 1.6 cars where there's no E-throttle. So installing a throttle controller is going to be a real pain, not only hard to find. I believe adding any of these or even a sprint booster would be negligible. Difference can be felt already at 20-30km/hr, instead of 40km/hr. I'm not going by RPM for now cause i believe in the cars ability to run when driving economically, e.g between 2000-3000RPM and if i were to run it at 4000 RPM there would definitely be significant difference than compared to stock. But yea better throttle response and pick up with OEP, feels like your cars being pushed forward a lot more than before. Today's the first day, definitely expecting more the next couple of days, will post it up. Looking towards dyno when i'm done with the car. My goal is to push this car to its furthest given its 1.6A DOHC engine. IMO it is really quite a sub-par engine/drivetrain, to make it worse, it's an automatic. However the convenient manual override makes the drive to modify more worth it i guess. No offend bro. To me it's wasting time and wasting $$$. If u really wan to "test-the-limit", TC is the only way. Do it once-and-4-all and full stop. The $$$ that u did your trial-&-error is enough to fix a proper set-up TC liao. Anyway just my view. Pls ignore this if it sounds nonsense 2 u.

Just wanna check will our ECU overwrite the tuning after sometime? Just checked with my tuner, by right it should not. What the tuner didn't tell u is that - "by left it should".

Hi, ani-1 use IK20 or BKR6 on 2.0L caren'07??? I experienced something strange. When I'm BKR6, the ride goes under-power, but surprising it's OK on IK20. What's the explanation?

Good advice Lao beng - especially you mentioned "our stock air-box is already like CAI". Unfortunately most ppl don't really understand what is the meaning of CAI. They always think that CAI means "open-pod" which is not true.
It's good that you have tested out both - open pod and drop-in. And you have noticed and experienced it correctly that drop-in serves better performance than open-pod. Unfortunately till today, there are ppl who swear dat open pod is better (especially on high-end). The burning question here is - are these ppl travelling constantly and always on 160km/hr & above on S'pore road??? Whao liao...vomit blood lah............

whao liao bro, don't sounds so gloomy lah. wear-and-tear/maintenance is part-and-parcel of car ownership. (a) ilding problem : pls check d throttle body. The mechanism of the butterfly is stuck. Need washing/servicing. pls oso chk the idling sensor. (b) car jerk while travelling : firing problem or fuel (dirty) problem. For my case, it was due to the iginition coil x'former. anyway u can look up for joey (harmony motors) if u prefer. He has the necessary tools and equipment to so such diagnostics.

Just remind u if u wan ur car to be safe do not exceed 0.7 boost. For mine right now is at 185hp. if urs is 2.0litre then u will have more power than me. bro, can test drive yr ride. if not convenience to share in forum, pls PM.

Hello bro. "differentshade" is actually spells as "differentiate". hehehehe.....btw, so how r u man? If I'm not mistaken "5W" means "5 deg C during winter temp" the EO is still able to achieve normalise flow without any heating facility - especially during cold start-up. Whereas the "30" means, viscosity at 30 cst (centistroke) when oil temp at 100 deg C. Usually our oil temp is btw the range of 80-90 deg C, meaning the viscosity will be at ard 35cst-40cst. Please don't ask me how do you define "cst" or "viscosity"? It will become very technical. But basically viscosity in layman terms means "resistance to flow".
Anyway, pls for other guru (like LMF) to give you a more proper and professional advices.

Thanks alots... usually you shd hit 400-450km @ 1/2 mark and 600-650km @ empty. anything less than this, sori babe, yr FC efficiency is no so good. use 17" & open-pod, hehehe....u r looking for bad FC that's all. if u OK, Exedy clutch has our model. price is $380 at speedwork or $500 at wkshop which include labour. not sure any price up. u need to chk yrself. good luck man!

mine also 5yrs++ , encounter air con blowing hot air also when travelling @ NSHW last 3 month ago.. stop the car and restart again still the same.. check temp ok.. the fan seems not working well as not much air blows out even on to the max.. then just ignore and carry on driving for about 1hour.. then the cold air came back eventually?? and after a while everything is back to normal , air con is strong and fans ok also.. was told by my mechanic that mayb the air con was freeze and all i hv to do is set the temp a bit higher and after a while , shld b ok? ? funny leh.. but till now everything is ok, air con power also .. heng ah... Same with me..on NSW..twice already..when at constant high speed say about 140kph-180kph on a hot sunny day..I suddenly felt stuffy and hot..noticed the air-con juz like gave up..not say blow hot air, but the power of the air-con suddenly dropped..even put to max still the same...temp gauge ok..so juz in case, I slowed down and off the aircon...wind down windows a bit..after awhile, back to normal...I guess the air-con compressor was overworked or sumthing... when u r at 5th gear travelling at the speed of 150km/hr, the rpm is already beyond 4000. for a short duration, no problem. But if u still holding it for more than 10 minutes, d air-con compressor will have a shorter life-span. what I did is to change the crank pulley ratio that even if you are travelling at the 6000rpm, the air-con revolution is only 4000rpm. but the damage is RM500 (including labour + changing the belt). I take it as long-term investment. to change air-con compressor is abt S$350. do your math 2 c whether worth while???

themostextreme, care to share where u go and damage? i think mine just a wee bit loose, wanna let them have a look to see if its just me or the shifter. i paid $400 for the labour alone. it's a tough job. The cable is abt $80. FYI, need to remove the dash-board and the air-con condenser unit, then u can hv access to the shift cable. Time taken 6 hours lor. U might wan to try the esso lavander and look 4 "kang". I think d damage is abt $300-$350. I believe 4 yr case, it could just be the "bushing" issue.
