Hi. Question. Are there any compatible engine of japan make to replace spectra 1.6 engine. Mine was flooded, repaired and now coughing white smoke. Thinking of getting japan engine of any make and model since it is cheaper compared to korean make. Heard that Mazda engine can fit with modifications but any that can fit without modifications to the engine bay or mountings? Thanks in advance.

That's if he's from around here. Thus I asked about the version of Spectra. Pre-Cerato version uses the MiTech DOHC.

hi guys. Thanks for the response. I am from Malaysia actually. I am driving a spectra bought in late 2006. Novus edition. I don't actually know the model or make of the engine. getting a second hand Kia engine is rather difficult here, and if there is, it will cost roughly 4k to 6k RM. Japanese car engine, like toyota, honda costs half and easily available. i have yet to ask the Kia distributor here for the price of brand new engine. Regards and thanks

Like that, source for Hyundai(or Inokom?) Matrix 1.8 engine. Total new species from the current engine you have. Can fit, but needs modification to the chassis. The closest to original without complex alteration. But still, worth trying. Rather than you fork out a huge amount on a new engine. Advantage, new engine will be obviously better lah.
