the 205/50 R16 is it a high profile tires? I am also using 205/50 R16 and I am achieving 11.35km/l in 70%urban 30%highway (jams quite often) Mine is a V1 1.6M HB sorry. I am not familiar if its high or low profile but mine look very ordinary! In anycase, 11+ km for los of jams should be ok. Without the jams, you should be able to get around 12-13km. That was what some ex-members observed when they first got their V1 many years back. ;D

9.5-10+km for auto is thereabouts for mostly urban driving. If you see the beginning of this thread, I was getting 11.5-12km when my workplace was 34km away and mostly expressway. My new workplace is 20km away and 90% jams! In anycase, I am using the specified tyres as per the manual (205 50R16). Before I upgrade to this, the car came with 185mm tyres and FC was 1km better (12km/l) !

Good thing about high COE prices is fewer people let go their Ceratos because cannot afford new car. heh heh But petrol prices have to go up if economy is good. Usually supply just meets demand but when economy is burning hot, China factories ramp up and they need more fuel for everything..power, plastics, etc. So prices can only go up. And worse now they are selling more cars too.

Check your O2 sensor bro. Pushing up the RPM is one thing but then suddenl dropping so fast tje engine stall, that is the main problem.

Bro Your tyres need to be rotated and balanced every 20K km or so. if you have not been doing it, the uneven wear causes your tyres to be unbalanced and vibrating at high speeds. This is transmitted to your steering wheel. I advise is to go and check your tyres and to do a rotation and balancing first. If that does not work, then you can try high speed balancing (its more costly) Cheers

Then you should have your FICD checked. May be tuned too high. Also previously for my old Spectra, a defective O2 sensor cable caused my RPM to shoot up randomly and eventually causing the engine to stall. It was fixed onl after the replaced the cable months later. Took very long because the fault was intermittent.

Normal if you cold start to idle faster. Its due to th automatic choke. It should slowly come down after 2-3 min. In the old days, I had to pull this lever on my 1980 Starlet to do this and then remember to push it back in after a while. Nowadays its all automatic!

hi to all bro.. My cerato v1 is abt 5yr+ old.. lately i realised that after topping up my coolant reserve tank to "F"..after 1 week it dropped to "L" liao. Is there a leak somewhere? Or is this a common problem for cerato? Any gd workshop ard toa payoh to intro if i wish to send for checking? thanks Could be a leak in your radiator. Is your mileage very high? If yes, then wear and tear on the engine block also can cause water to leak into the combustion chamber and be evaporated away. But check your radiator and cooling system first. Water level should not drop so much.

Have you tried the 3M glass polishing pad? You can get it at autobacs and such shops. Very effective for removing dirt. maybe it will remove the rain x too. it looks like a thick sandpaper. Dab some water and wipe the windscreen a few times. That's all it takes, you can try it. Good luck, bro.

I got my replace this year. Check your insurance whether any excess. Also in my case the Rike Cool was recorded in my Sales Agreement and hence my insurance company over Rike Cool replacement too. Note no demerit point but can only claim 1 windscreen change per insurance year. Hence, time is rightly if you can. Sure?? Mine for hit by a pebble 1 week after I bought the car and the screen spider-cracked on me. I got a free replacement but the rikecool was not included, so I paid for a 3M solar film myself. In anycase, if its chipped and can be repaired, the insurance may insist to pay for repair instead of replacement.

Bro, no need top overhaul lah. BTW, i've done 160,000km & my 5.5 yrs old car. gg 4 my 3rd timing belt chge soon. Top overhaul due can don't do but progressively your FC will become worse. That happened on my old Starlet way back. LMF : TO involves opening the top cover of the engine block and servicing your tappets, valves and injectors.

Hi I try and answer your question below : Sorry to ask a maybe repeated and dumb question but just to check with u guys 1. how much litre of EO is required of a 1.6A Cerato V1? About 4 litres. If you buy the standard bottle, there would be about 0.5 litres left after the oil change. 2. if my EO level is below L indicator on the dip stick can i still drive without the engine kenna illness? No. Not recommended. That will result in more friction and accelerate wear and tear. 3. what type of coolant is recommended? and where u pour the coolant into? into the reserve first then main? Not sure what coolant to use. sorry 4. if cranking takes very long like serveral second, it is mainly the starter problematic? Should be a weak battery. If you battery is maintenance free and about 1 year old, you need to change it. BTW, at 129K mileage, you may want to check if the car is due for top overhaul. Its not stated in the manual but at 129K mileage, your car should be around 6 years old. About time for that.

Logically my V2 auto should be heavier but in my 3-year inspection, my car was weighed and the system reported weight of car is 1199 kg (with half tank fuel and no one in the car). My guess the specs is for their full-fletched model complete with 6 airbags

Previously when my V2 Auto was clocking about 70-80% un-jammed highway, I was getting 11.5-12km/l. But nowadays due to 80% jams I only get between 9.5-10.5km/l. Sometimes can hit 11km. Midpoint for 70% highway is 380km. These days midpoint with 705 jam is around 280-300km only.

Remember to set the aircon to blow out and not front and leg. Nowadays the weather is really hot. If you car is moving, the aircon will get cold fast. if idling. then it will not get cold fast. Normally if I want faster at standstill, I press the accelerator up to 2000rpm and that does the trick until I move off. Also, make sure to use a good solar film like Vcool or 3M. They help a little. too. I also use those reflective cardboards but they only protect the dashboard and your chair from burning, but not much else.
