Magentis was checked into Pandan service centre this morning at ~8am. Noticed that there were many magentis cab waiting to be serviced. Also noticed that there were many more Mitsubishi than Kia.
I'm using this chance to gauge the service level and workmanship of C&C. If they do a good job on the warranty replacement of the rear view mirror and the panel parts, I'll send the magentis back to them for servicing even after the warranty period.
I do not mind paying certain amount of premium for good and professional service.

Hi gkoh,
I believe the FC will reduce drastically in heavy stop start traffic. The magentis is not lightweight..
The comfort and price more than makes up for it.

1st tankful
52 litres got me 624km (pump quantity vs distance travelled)
FC = 12km/l
FC meter shows 8.0l / 100km (which equate to 12.5km/l), pretty accurate
70% expressway.

On second thoughts, I think I will send my car to Pandan service centre as my work location is nearer Jurong Town hall than Leng Kee.

Hi Blastwave,
Thanks for the tips.
I've called C&C Leng Kee service centre just now and found out more about their service centre from an efficient service personnel on the phone.
Eunos service centre operates more like a satellite centre and is good for mainly regular servicing jobs.
Parts warehouse is in Pandan service centre.
Even servicing in Leng Kee, parts has to be indented from Pandan warehouse.
You are right about going to Pandan for the repairs and fault finding.
I'll be sending my magentis in to Leng kee on Tuesday morning and will collect late night. I do not expect every thing to be done and I am expecting a third visit after spare parts arrive.
Thanks.

Drove my car to Eunos service centre this evening. Reach the service centre at 730pm. Described the problem with the panel not fitting properly and the faulty auto-dimming rear view mirror to the service consultant.
Consultant drove the car upstairs.. presumably to the mechanics. After a short wait, the car was driven down and I was told that nothing can be done this evening.
I have to leave my car early in the morning for a whole day for their mechanic to try to bend the panel back into place and check if there is wiring issue with the rear view mirror.
According to the service consultant, even if the rear view mirror and panel are faulty, there is no stock to replace. Therefore I will have to go to the service centre a third time if repairs are not possible and new parts needs to be ordered.
In-efficient service. Will be going again this saturday morning and hopefully their mechanic can get some work done, if not at least find out the parts that needs to be replaced and place orders for spares accordingly.

Hi gkoh,
My magentis is still under warranty period and I have booked a check with them tonight. There is nothing wrong with the car, just the rear view mirror and the interior rear beam panel.
Smooth ride. Tyre noise is the only issue even on current Yokohama Aspec db.

I have a regular shop in AMK autopoint that I go to for my previous cars. They are a competent group of mechanics for regular maintenance job such as engine oil and filter change, coolant and brake fluid flush etc.
But withe the magentis, I am a little worried if I need to get interior panels fixed up properly. The outisde mechanic might not be familiar with cars as the magentis is not common in Singapore. I've seen mechanics almost breaking and cracking plastics panel during removal and installation as they are not sure where the holding tabs on these injection molded parts are.
Very scary.

Just find out that a plastic cover on the rear beam does not fit properly. I believe someone removed this panel and did not put it back the correct way. The small oval tab the covers the screw access was also missing.
Will C&C charge for a simple job like this?

Hi gkoh,
Does it mean that you have paid more than $285 for your 40k km servicing? As the additional parts are not included in the service package price according to Kia website.

I'm surprised that the fuel filter and fuel pump set has to be changed every 20000km.. that's a short interval according to Kia's website.
The price stated in the website is pretty reasonable if it includes all parts.
Are we allowed to observe the mechanic at work during servicing? Just like to be present to make sure that all checks are conducted.

Taken from Kia.com.sg servicing website
"Replacement of spark plug (at every 40,000km) and platinum plug (at every 100,000km) at separate order "
What is the "at separate order" means. Does all the parts replacement at 40k km servicing included in the price of $285? or do we have to pay extra for these parts?

Hi Evererin and gkoh for the advice.
I have booked a check up date this saturday at Ubi service centre. When I'm there, I will check the service record. Most likely the usual 40k km servicing will be done as I trust the previous owner.

There is a Kia stockist located in Jalan Besar area. Along the HDB shophouses just before Esso petrol station in the direction towards East.
Kia parts are sold at a very reasonable price there. The name is Fong Yatt.

Hi blastwave,
Thanks for the information.
The suspensions were now ok after I checked and re-adjusted the tire pressure to specification.
My magentis has almost 43000km on the clocks.
Where did you go for your shock absorber change? Did you go back to C&C, or go to spare part stockist for the shock and get mechanic to install for you?
Or is there other recommended aftermarket brands that provides better ride quality?
Thanks,

Hi gkoh,
Was coolant replacement standard procedure at 40k km servicing?
As for the rear view mirror, does it mean that the power button will be lit at all times after ignition unless you turn it off?
Thanks

Hi gkoh,
Does the 50k km servicing include changing coolant and brake fluid?

My magentis was last serviced at 40000km on late Jan 09 this year. It now has 42600km on the clocks.
Went to check on the engine bay on Sunday, the coolant reservoir was empty.
My question is, why did the mechanic at C&C top up the coolant in the reservoir during the last service less than 2 months back?
I have to top it up using my leftover coolant from servicing of my bike.

Hi gkoh,
Thanks for the information.
I have applied WD-40 at the throttle torsion spring linkage and the throttle feel is now much better.
One thing I have to ask about the rear view mirror. It is supposed to be auto-dimming right? There is power button at the centre of the rear view mirror. What is it supposed to do? From the user manual, the auot-dimming function should be default on whenever we turn on the ignition. For my magentis, the power button is alway not lit up, no matter how I press on the this power button.
Furthermore, I cannot tell if the auto-dimming functions works or not, even if I drive at night. Could it be faulty? Is there supposed to be an LED light on underneath the power button?
Thank you

Hi fellow forummers,
Just took over a 06 magentis.
Found a few issues.
1) Throttle paddle feel is jerky, probably need a good greasing.
2) Brakes are sudden and lack progressive feel.
3) Suspension feel can be jerky at times, especially over bumps and potholes on the road.
If I were to arrange a check up with C&C service centre, will they be willing to treat the above symptoms as warranty claims issue?
Thanks alot.

Hi, Anyone knows how much it cost for a 50k km servicing at C&C? Just took over a 06 Magentis with 43000km on the clock. I feel that the throttle paddle isn't smooth, kind of jerky. Same thing for the brakes, it isn't gradual, it is like having brakes or no brakes. Very sudden application of brakes. Will C&C be able to service the brakes FOC? Will this be considered a warranty claimable issue? Thanks, Hi, would like to find out fm fellow mag owners.... I sent my 07 mag in to C&C tis morn cos the enginer chek indicator lighted up. My car was serviced at Comfort Delgro for 30k n my mileage now is 36k. C&C told me that warranty might be voided due to tis 3rd party svc hence asked me to svc my car for either the 30k or 40k at the same time. No choice, I opted for the 40k svc. Would like to know if my warranty will really be voided if we svc our car outside, even if it was done by reputable svc ctr?
