You should "summon" them. I used to print out copies of the sgkiaclub brochure and put it on the windscreens of kia cars without the club logo..

how to post pics? hehehe... sorry i'm new here? when's the next meeting? yeah.. i refering to the sun shade decals.. been searching for it high and low.. eh? what happened to yours? The shaded strip is part of the original windscreen on the Cerato. Its not pasted one but manufacturered into the glass. 2 weeks after I got my V2, it got cracked by a stone on the expressway. The new replaced windscreen had the same shade strip too. If you go for vcool, I think the strip is included as part of the package because it is needed.

Mine is the bundled 16" rims with Yokoham Aspec DB 205/50R16. All stock stuff from C&C. The 16" rims is the reason why my FC can't hit 13km...sigh...although the Yokohamas Aspecs did push it to 12km...

nowadays there is alot of talk on people scanning your car frequency as you lock it. I understand the "good" brands like audi and merc have car alarms that are anti-scanning. Does any of the usual ones like crimestopper and viper have this function? I am using a singapore-made generic one from C&C because it has an integrated alarm in key chain..heh heh. It has auto arm function, so all I do is manually lock the door and the alarm will auto arm after 1 minute. Good practice against scanning.

You can look for Phil Tan from Alexandra Br too. Good service and I bought 3 cars (Sephia, Spectra and Cerato) from him.

Might b the engine oil grade... i use grade 40 oil, FC wasn very good, den last servicing switch to 35.. FC improved... perhaps is due to this.. just my personal experience no lah... Its just that the fuel level dropped by 2 marks in the 10days it was in the workshop. not sure why so much evaporated away..the odometer only increased by 8km being the distance they sent for painting, I suppose. In anycase, I topped up yesterday and I'm at 80km now and its still above the first mark. If I reach 120km at first mark, then FC is back to normal...i.e. 11.5-12km/l.

update: I got my car back! Good as new and with a nice coat of polish too...wooweee! And the workshop is good too. Reasonable cost and very responsible. I complained my remote not working and they drove out to buy a new battery for me! Workshop is called Lai Huat (Ming Kee) Motor at Sector A, Blk 21, Sin Ming Industrial Estate. They are an authorised car repairer for many insurance and boy they had many cars there man. I met 2 customers who also said they were very happy with the workshop. You can check it out if you wish.
But bad news is somehow the fuel level dropped. Not sure why. The odometer did not move much (except when they drove the car out for spray painting.). Just past the half way mark and only 300km! I usually can get around 380-400km at half tank. I can see this tank FC will not be good. Should be topping up end tomorrow now that fuel prices have dropped 5 cents..haha.

well....my car still in the workshop and I've driven 649km on the Altis befor topping up today. While the max range is similar to the Cerato, the Kia tank is 55 litres vs 50 litres for the altis, so the final fc for the altis is 14km/l. Not too bad as far as FC is concerned but for many things else, its just a notch lower. The built feels flimsy for a Toyota, nothing like even my old Jap-made Starlet...Hope to be able to get back my ride soon though..

well...I won't be reporting for my poor cerato for a week or 2. Car met with an accident on Sunday night and now its in the workshop..sigh... They gave me a Toyota Altis auto to drive, (its almost the same age as my Cerato), so I get to compare the 2 cars first hand especially the FC. As its the same driver and usage pattern, this would be a meaningful comparison instead of "my friend drive a XXX and get xxxkm/l, etc". Will report after 1 week...

bro, drive such a nice car don't be so hard on yourself lah....if warm then on the aircon. most impt is you should enjoy the ride also! I don't ram very hard either. Occasionally do it to overtake but most of the time, keep the speed between 90-100...that's the optimal speed. If you see my past data, my FC has ever dropped to 10+ to 11km also, so I do get bad FC sometimes. Its an x-file because my driving pattern did not change much during those times either. your driving pattern maybe the same.. I can't say the same about petrol quality.. All Kia cars can take 91 and above, so 92 is just right. Quality of the petrol is the same for all types of fuel because its the same quality control. I once went to visit the BP lab (when BP was still around) in Singapore. Cars with higher compression ratio tend to have engine knocks. Hence they need higher octane to make it more knock resistant. However, higher octane does not cost alot more, so to justify the much higher price, oil companies introduce their "premium" product. i.e. 98= Higher octane+more goodies added. These goodies are usually more expensive additives to make your car burn stronger, hence require lesser fuel which theoretically translate into savings. They may also include better additives that remove soot from your engine, making it cleaner, etc. So far I have no need for that. Users of 98 fuel talk about how powerful their cars are but frankly, I did not notice a difference when I tried the 98 once or twice previously, and I prefer better FC and savings to higher power...(i.e. the 121ps on the cerato is wasted on me )

Hi I normally avoid pushing the accelerator too much. When I see vehicles stopping in front , I let go and let the car glide on and slow down using engine brake, then tapping accelerator or brake gently when needed. I encounter between 40-50% highway on weekdays and 10% on weekends. I pump Mobil/Esso 92. Try to pump late at night when ground is cool and always let it auto cut off. never squeeze anymore. Aircon at minimum fan speed and min cold most of the time but that's because I do not like very cold. I keep my air pressure at 230-240 psi. Other than that, I did not do much. My current tank just ended hit 395km at halfway mark...due to cool weather this past 2 days! yeah!

My auto averages 380km at half mark. Manual cars should be getting 400-450km at half tank AT LEAST. If you're getting less than 300km, either there is some problem with the car or you are very heavy footed without realising it. The new V2 VVT engine is a class above the previous model and one of its key improvements is better FC...My present tank is almost half mark now and I am at 350km. I expected it to be around 380km this time round.
Try being really light footed...ie. get into the habit of not ramming and braking frequently..

Sure thing. But I won't be returning to C&C for the subsequent servicing, the prices are too exhorbitant. Seriously considering to do it at Stamford Tyres for their service package. They would be using Caltex synthetic oil... which kind I also not too sure. Any recommendations? Anyway, for those driving Auto, do u experience 'loud' engine noise during Gear 1~2? Compared to Toyota or Nissan, Cerato seemed to be quite noisy neh... I'm driving an auto...and the car is very quiet when accelerating except when I ram hard. Even then its still reasonable. The engine is practically silent during cruising. My friend who drives a Latio commented this when he took a ride from me...

Hi guys, think I give up on improving the FC for Cerato V2. Been monitoring for 9 mths liao. So far it has been fluctuating between 9.5km/l to 10.5km. Tried variables like different petrol (Esso 5000 vs. 8000), gd driving habit (no hard ramming, no hard chasing of the car in front of me), and even tried EPS (Efficient Petrol System). Pretty hard to go beyond 11km/l even though I had clocked 9000km liao... sigh.... Yours an auto , right? If you drive the car relatively hard, you can get as low as 10km/l. Othewise "light" footed may not be light...its the technique. Also, ensure your tyres are pumped to 230, and forget about 5000 and 8000 petrol. I have been using 2000 for more than 10 years now and no problems....

Hi roar, Your car alarm problem may not be applicable to others because the car alarm is not factory installed. It is installed by the SE as part of his "package". Eg, in my SE's case, he uses Monggo Motions. Also, the alarm changes according to what you need. I had mine changed to one that will auto arm if I forget to do it. (pay extra on top of the "free" alarm). In anycase, your problem is quite common. Its usually due to poor wiring contact. This happens because unlike professional installation, most mechanics here twist the wires together. Hence sometimes there is contact problem. Need to bring it back to C&C and ask them to check the wiring. As for vibration, the V2 is rock smooth and quiet especially with yokomaha Aspec DB tyres. If it vibrates, then you need to do balancing on your tyres and perhaps maybe alignment as well. cheers
