Instal KDK fans under the bonnet mod!! Effectove and cheap too!! Only one case for how many years? Many people has been raising their bonnet without any issue, if after what you've said then people start to have their bonnet flying off, then that must be your suay mouth lo. If not please tell all of us how you suggest to divert the heat away? Ya, then everyone will be going down and let you earn their hard earn money right? Aiyah, my suay mouth always not accurate one. You will for sure be the 'Heng' fellow. Don't worry lah. Go ahead and enjoy your ride. Me uncle always kiasu type. Got children already so ball also smaller. Last month went KL also slowed down after hitting 235. Haiz, lao liao, cannot go faster, no balls liao. Hope you younger ones can take over the torch. Also don't know how to divert the hot air out lah. Next time meet up I will sure ask you more detail on how to mod car. You guru mah.

Yea, track is fun, i love track on the old EG days lol! Changed to a rex and went for a fully closed deck. So changed paths to Drag instead. why does Pica do not have PPG's???!!!!!! Love the straight cuts...... If you just cut away the thermostst valve and make it straaight thru, it would be good for long drives like up to K.L with coolant passing thru your engine the entire time keeping it at a reasonable not so hot temperature, especially in super long jams it helps too... butthose who travels very minimal distances each time they start the car, its better for them to leave it alone . Trackies, this is a wonderful and cheap mod!!!! Yup, did this way for my previous track GTi, so now dunno whether ours can or not? How Joey? Can?

I believe the thermostat is trying to control the temperature to an optimum value.. Perhaps it may be due to the oil temp? Should maintain it at 80 - 90 degrees for maximum performance?

Have to agree with bro Black913 Was browsing through this month issue of REV and this is the finding I've got from this REV. Short extract here and there from an interview with OWS founder, Mr. Klaus Bosshammer: So what exactly is that we should know about Engine Oil?The first thing you should know is that all engine oils share the same characteristics. All oils have to follow the API (American Petroleum Index) standard. The difference between the various oils are the viscosity and the additives added. For example, 5W-30 is a relatively slick engine oil that isn't suited for the temperatures here as its viscosity is fairly low, and burns up instead of lubricating your engine. When that happens, you end up with metal and metal, with essentially no protection for your engine. You might see some fuel saving but your engine is going to be in trouble. What would you recommend for cars here in Singapore? In Singapore, because of the humidity and the tropical temperatures, the bare minimum you have to use is at least a 5W-40 for your standard Japanese/ Korean cars and for European makes like BMW, Volkswagen and Mercedes, at least a 5W-50. I see.. Perhaps the oxygen sensor will also pick up excess oxygen being present in the exhaust and adjust accordingly. Good piece of info! I already had this type of device, here on the ocident we have the ECOTEK ( www.ecotekplc.com ). The car appears / feel more lighter after the install... but I've prove on dyno that there is no extra power from the device, só, I bought the Unichip that really put out the extra BHP and F/C. This device Air changer does a strange/weird sound after you guys remove the foot from the accelerator? how about changing injectors and probably a good air instake system with a good ecu? F/C wise not very friendly..... The 1000cc injectors are sitting my my store for a long time now.....collecting dust on the box....... taken out from my second car and dunno wat to do with it....... i dun wanna drown the pica with this. hahahahahaa

Anyone care to share wat's the servicing done before gg to long trip? Or things to prepare before gg? First time planning and driving to gentling.. Or any experience share for pica going up north.. Do a general servicing like replace engine oil, transmission oil, coolant, check tyre threads, check brakes and brakepads. Most importantly, invest in a GPS with Malaysia maps......

Great Post Mate... But, for the engine oil be in perfect working order the engine temperature needs to be at least 90 celcius. Less than that the the properties of the lubrication into the oil will not take the 100% effect for all the engine parts. It's not good to run the engine will the thermostatic valve open all the time. In my pica valve will open when the car temp reaches 103c. and close after reach 96c. Best Regards! thks dude that is why early in the mornings, do not floor the throttle too hard.... drive gently and smoothly for 5 to 10 mins and then all hell breaks loose for some especially when late for work

I was about to do the DIY for the bypass... But, after read this thread i think that I shall leave it alone... where it is... Its very noticiable after you start the car after 2 minutes and put the hand over the TB and over the intake manifold that the TB is hotter than the manifold. As only the TB is hot, I think that air passing by fast will not take enouth time to heat it up at a "critical" level for the combustion process... What you guys think? Regards! That is very true but not to the extent of as hot as the exhaust manifold i think... what i can summarize from here when doing this apparent modification of plugging the inlet and return lines of the TB, it will enhance the flow of the coolant in other areas which is more critical especially for the engine block. Basically, it is re-routing the coolant to be pumped to other areas except the TB. This will be beneficial for our climate in Singapore as we do not have worries of icing in the TB as mentioned in the post someone has specified. Also, we can rest assured that the collant has one less area to pass through and thus minimize the added area of rusty internal component which will be spread in the whole engine coolant system. Basically, in theory, when the water pump works one area less, it will be more efficient in the circulation of coolant and less stress is caused by the water pump motor and how significant is the power gain is almost negligable. But it can perhaps further prevent your coolant from becoming contaminated with rust particles with one less area to go through. I have done this on my old EG previously and also bypassed the thermostat or thermistor if it is known in Picanto's. I would prefer not to have the coolant to reach a certain temperature and wait for the valve to activate and circulate the whole cooling system. By default if i am not wrong, when you start the picanto in the morning to work, the water temp is shown in blue to indicate the engine is still cold. Therefore, the thermostat or thermistor will actually prevent the valve from opening for circulation until your engine reaches the optimal tempreature. Well, it really depends on what each owner is looking at, i would prefer radiator fan to be running at the start of the key ignition and also the coolant to be flowing freely at all times, nevermind the cold start in the mornings, Singapore is way too hot for that anyways. We are in thr tropics!! And i also think that you might have to cut away the thermostst or thermistor valve or something like that to remove the coolant being locked in the engine block area until it is warmed up. So there goes the original thermostat and it is a point of no return unless you buy a new thermostat or thermistor. My worthless $0.02 of thoughts.
