Sorry to dig up an old post.. BTW, read this article from Wiki.. The Alpha II G4ED.
"With only the addition of a turbocharger the engine has been proven to withstand powers that exceed 200 bhp (150 kW) without any internal engine modifications, even with its high 10:1 compression ratio, which tends to promote detonation on traditionally fuel injected engines."Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyundai_Alpha_engine

Here in the USA there are a few 200HP Spectras and a couple that will dyno out at 225HP. But a total engine rebuild is required. There is one Spec 5 in California that is a purpose built drag car. Not street legal. The owner claims he is pushing 475HP with 28psi turbo and a 200 wet shot of NOS. He runs in the 10 second bracket and hasn't been beat since 2005. The owner designed and patented his own ECU and runs an automatic tranny with a computer he designed and patented for it. I can't remember the mans name and his website is gone. But he did post all his specs about his car and did have some videos of it running down the track. He was blowing the doors off of Mustangs, Cameros, Nissans, Acuras, and anything else that wanted to run against him. He had stats that out of 20 runs down the quarter mile he could stay in the 10second bracket each time. Very consistent. He claimed he had about $50,000.00 invested in the car. So getting high HP out of the Beta II engine can be done if you got the money. Just not practical for street use.

Hi guys,
I happened to pass by this forum and found this thread again by chance... Yeah, it was my dream to build a 300hp Cerato last time... But I ditched the idea eventually and sold off my ride...

Oh man!!! still dreaming about 300HP G4ED. Technically speaking it's possible if u hv (maybe) 30k to throw cos it involves changing internal organs; but not sure how's the life-span going to be. Commercially speaking, it's not viable bcos it's a very bad investment.
Just 4 sharing (since I no longer drive cerato) - my best timing is "from stand-still ...... up to 160km/hr under 30 seconds". And to achieve that I need to spent 9K.

I've already changed 2 cars since then. Currently more than 300hp, and 0-100km/h is about 4sec...
