Hi Joey, I'm currently facing a issue, whenever I turn my steering wheel to the right, close to a full lock, be it moving forward or reversing, I will hear a clunk/click noise from the frontal left. could it be the cv joint? thanks in advance. Most likely it's the CV Joint. But that will give you a harder knocking noise.

Hi Joey, Like to check if there's anything wrong with this: Normal battery voltage when idling: 13.8 to 14.0V Rpm when idling: 630rpm average When aircon cuts in (with the magnetic clutch noise), all remains normal. When the fan cuts in,voltage drops to 12.5V. Idling drops to 570rpm. Vehicle experience vibration and dimming of headlamps. This happens for about 5 secs before rpm and voltage is adjusted to higher levels. Is everything normal for this situation? Thanks. Finally found a solution to this problem. The cause is most probably due to weak battery. After I changed to my new battery last week, the problem is almost eliminated completely. The previous problem of dimming headlamps and engine stalling symptoms is almost gone, although there is a little dimming if you look closely. But much improved compared to before battery change. And also, thanks to Joey for pointing out to me that I'm using an 'undersized' battery all along. I believe this may also be linked to the dimming headlamps problem. Compared to previously, now my ride seems to have a big voltage stabiliser. The headlamps have improved, the sound quality of the amp and subwoofer, the radio reception, and most importantly, the responsiveness of the throttle all seemed to have improve in one way or another.

I had drive my Kia cerato forte 1.6 auto sv for 4 yrs. recently, my abs and overdrive indicator both led up. Intermittently, it will just go off. But now seems to be led up and never disappear unless engine off for quite some time.
My mileage is 110 000km. Pls kindly advice what is the issue? Is it common? Cos I hear from my friend that his car also had same issue. What is ur servicing package and how much to change the parts that is involved?
Thanks, Danny teo

I would suggest that you do a scanning to determine the trouble codes in order to have a better picture of your problem. Thanks and safe driving. Joey Lim

Hi Joey, my Picanto is currently 6 year old and mileage is about 62k. Recently i notice that whenever i gear down and apply the foot brake, the hand brake light will light up and off again. Is this normal?

Is this normal? Check your Brake Fluid Level. I suggest you do a Brake System Flush too. Thanks and safe driving. Joey Lim

Hi Joey, I have some problems with my air con for kia cerato forte. (Nov 09)
I used to on my air con with fan speed of 1 or 2 and I can feel the air con blowing.
But nowadays, when I on with fan speed of 4 to 5 it still seems weak.
I need to full blast it for a few secs then turn it down to get it working.
Any advise?
Best Regards, Xcen

Hi Joey,
What are the factors to consider if one were to extend the COE beyond 10 years? The COE premium would be rather predictable depending on the figures based on the 10th year but what about vehicle maintenance?
Would we need to change the engine gasket, do overhaul at the end of the 10th year, assuming the mileage is 180,000km? Also, do you know what's the lifespan of my CVT gearbox?

Yes, main factor is still the COE. As for the vehicle, most of the vehicle can last for 20 years without much problem. Maintenance wise, I would say that just do a endoscope to look at the valves for carbon deposit and a compression test to determine the efficiency of the engine. CVT wise, the life span should be about 180,000 km. Thanks and safe driving.

Oops. I think I'll exceed 180,000km by the 10th year. Any idea how much a CVT gearbox would cost to replace?

Hi,
My Forte will automatically high-beam or horn for no reason while driving.
It happens once in a while, what could be the problem?

Hi, My Forte will automatically high-beam or horn for no reason while driving. It happens once in a while, what could be the problem? Lunar 7th month? Haha, just joking. I think it's the socket inside the Steering wheel. Do a check, cleaning and alignment of the pins should help.

Depleted Shock Absorbers. 2. Worn Front Lower Arm Ball Joints. 3. Worn Stabilizer Bar Linkages or 4. Worn Steering Tie Rod and/or Tie Rod End. Get your car check by a Technician, it is quite easy to find the problematic parts. Thanks

Hi Joey, I have a serious problem with my 09 AT Picanto. It has a high fuel consumption. I took my car to harmony before and your advice is to monitor by using 10 petrol pump. The average fuel consumption still remain at 7.3 to 8.8 km/l.
I spend 90% driving to AMK and yio Chu kang with my wife and baby in car.
Two weeks ago I went to harmony to check use the OBD scanner, everything reflected ok. But I intend to change my gear box fluid. It still doesn't improve.
I have done everything I can to see how to improve fuel consumption. Step my accelerator with less than 3000 rpm, change fuel pump, battery, spark plug, engine oil, air filter ( hurricane) and clean throttle. Nothing works. Do you have any advise? Is there something wrong with my ECU? Or do you think I should reset my ECU? But how?
Will QF helps? If QF might help, I was think to go to your shop on Saturday at 9 am to do it. Btw how much will it cost?? Can PM me??

I can't guarantee that I will be able to find the problem as there are 'nothing' wrong with your car. I will need a few hours to test drive and measure.

Hi Joey,
2 Problems
1) My dashboard light and audio panel light got switched off when I switch on my HID lights.
2) My car key sensor stop working once in a while, I need to take out my car key to open my door.
Could it be a sign that my battery is dying ? It is 2 years+

Either you re-route it or you improve on the earthing of your Dashboard Instrument Cluster. 2. Change the battery first and see how. Thanks
