Hi Joey,
I'm driving a f/l A/T pica. I will like to know if ECU QF can change the gear change speed of the A/T. For e.g., when i stepped the accelerator down 1/4, it changes gear at 2.2k rpm, when i stepped the accelerator down 1/3, it changes gear at 2.5k rpm, is it possible that ECU QF make it change gear at 2.2k rpm even if i'm stepping accelerator at 1/3?
I got this question cos for A/T picanto, it will just drag the rpm over 3k if i try to accelerate faster. I've sit in other cars and seen that even if the driver accelerate harder, the car will still change gear when the rpm is reached.
I'm not sure if i'd confused u, but hope u can enlighten me. Thanks in advance! Cheers!

Thanks in advance! Cheers! Thanks for your good question and sorry for the late reply. ECU Programming is editing of the Digital Maps that controls the Engine (not the Transmission). Although the output power of the engine will influence the behaviour of the AT. Therefore, OEP will not be able to change the Gear Shift pattern as you described. However, AT can be manipulated by your foot pedal! The Gear will shift up if you do these: 1. Step on the throttle by more than 30%. 2. Pedal speed must be fast. Vise-versa for Down Shift. If you want to hold gear, then just push the Pedal slowly. The gear will not change and RPM will be able to climb to as high as 6000 rpm. Just need a little practice and you will be able to drive an Auto-Trans like a Manual. Thanks and safe driving. Joey Lim 9636 9151

hi joey, i think i get what u mean. thanks! but just curious, is there any programming that can change the gear shift pattern? Cheers! Yes, I did it before in Korea. But did not bring over the software and machine. I don't think you need to change the shift pattern software because it is really very well written. Thanks and safe driving. Joey Lim

Hi guys, My Pica just got QF-ed yesterday.. Thanks to Joey for providing excellent customer service.. Just want to submit my feedback and also to enquire about some queries that I have.. I'll write this feedback according to these groups: Performance, FC, Queries. Performance: My apologies for being so direct, but basically, when I first test drive aft QF, I was expecting this factor but it didn't surface.. Performance increase by abit but definitely not 10% as I thought. When I installed the Pmax, CAI and grounding, I really felt a difference compared to stock.. So I hope to have this experience once again. It was driving home then I really started to access how effective this QF is.. So I test it out on the slope from BKE to SLE.. Don't worry coz I didn't speed my way up the slope.. This slope has always been a big problem for my pica, esp with passengers.. With a throttle of about 50%, which I have been using all along, I make my way up the slope.. I realised it has become easier to clear the slope.. However, I was still not convinced. Who knows I may have apply more pressure sub-consciously to achieve the feeling of my pica is more powerful.. More tests has to be done.. Unconvinced that this QF really does work, I took my pica out for a drive in the evening.. Pumped a full tank to start monitor FC.. I drive around the streets and then took to the expressway for a spin.. And I also assessed my pica when I drove to work today.. I was closing the gap along the slip road to an expressway.. I have been overtaken by 3 vehicles.. If I continue to let vehicles overtake as a good gesture, I think that the vehicles behind would swear at me for being such a "polite" driver.. Those overtaking cars don't have to queue while we have to wait for minutes before our turn to enter the slip road.. So i pressed the accelerator slightly harder, but less then 50% definitely.. How many percent I don't know.. What I know is that my car just surge forward.. I was caught by surprise and have to brake to slow the vehicle down.. So this is what QF is all about.. It has to be driven hard to show its effects.. While driving through the expressway, I also realised that there is more torque in the region of 80km/hr and 100km/hr.. FC: Normally, my pump needed starts to drop after I've travelled 70+km.. But I managed to squeeze out 100km before the needle starts to drop.. The key point to take note is the mid tank milegae.. Normally, the highest that I would achieve is around 250km.. If I can achieve a mileage higher this time round, that could signify a decrease in FC. Of coz I must take 3 tanks as a gauge, so I could only have the answer later on.. But one thing I'm still not sure is that has my ECU learn the new programme yet? Normally how long does it take to learn? Hope you guys don't mind my long feedback.. Have a good day everyone..

hi picanyeo, i supposed u're in the office now? haha, can afford to post up such a comprehensive feedback. seems like u have done up quite a few mods already. (we're poisoned) i think that maybe if one is to go for QF with everything stock, he should feel more improvement compared to those that have quite a few mods done up? after reading up harmony.sg, i'm just wondering if we are allowed to choose what kind of setting we want for the QF. to my shallow understanding, QF is to optimize the fuel/air volume mixture and the ignition timing for that specific car by "tweaking" the ECU. does any1 say, " all i want is power! i dun mind about higher fc." and there's a setting whereby that can be achieved. whereas some1 else say, " i want fuel efficiency, i dun mind average power." just happen to think of it early in the morning.

Shh.. Don't say so loud.. My ricebowl very impt to me you know.. So there are 2 factors that I have to find out: 1) FC.. Quite easy because figures don't lie.. But I have confidence that it will be better.. Current 12.5 to 13.0km/ltr.. 2) Increase in power and torque.. This is more difficult.. I don't have any figures to show.. But so far I have encouraging results.. Especially in mid to high range, as other picas who have done QF feedback. I believe it's because I don't drive my pica in the high range.. I don't usually whack my pica here and there, just drive as normal.. Even Joey mentioned to me why step on the accelerator so gently.. So for your idea regarding the QF setup in power or FC, I feel that this QF liang quen qi mei, means can fulfill both requirements.. The QF basically increases your power surge in the mid to high range, as others have feedback. For those who likes power will enjoy this increase in power around this range. For people like me who drives at a normal pace, we can enjoy better FC because QF makes our engine more efficient. For the same amount of petrol used, we can have more work done compared to unflash. Based on the same driving patterns, there would be a decrease in the petrol consumption. (Ltr/100km).

QF is definitely next for me. most prob will drop by the amk branch this sat between 3 to 330pm (only period to go for opc) and see see look look. too bad only jurong branch has the promotional price. have to plan my trip there.

Hmm.. I see from your mods that are similar to mine.. Except that you are using Apexi for your air filter whereas mine is K&N.. And you have an additional VSDIII.. Perhaps I would like to ask you for feedback when I intend to install it..
During lunch, I was thinking about this ECU issue.. Normally, when my pica was stock, I realised that I have good acceleration until 3krpm.. And after that, although the rpm is still rising, but I can feel that the acceleration is no longer there..
Now my concern will be whether this QF will change the torque curve.. After all, it does make sense that max torque is at 2.8krpm for the stock pica.. Hence, if the power and torque curve is altered, then the point where the pica starts to lose its acceleration will be changed.. I'll test it out later on..
Heard from other fellow picas that some may take up to 2 days to present a different behaviour from unflash.. Today is the 2nd day, so I guess whatever that should be altered should have been done by now..

i believe that the torque curve shouldn't have changed unless the engine/gearbox have been modified?
what i read from harmony webbie, is that QF improves a specific car to perform as close to their specifications listed by factory and that spec shouldn't be out-performed...
hmmm... maybe Joey can enlighten us abit?
off topic... not to psycho u, but just my feedback. after installation of VSD 3, i can feel that the car is more eagered to move forward with lesser effort. i'm not sure if its me or maybe its true, AT pica's 3rd gear to 4th gear transmission can give a rather big jerk which i believe its due to the large gear ratio difference between gear 3 and 4. (rpm at gear 3 can drop from 2.1k to 1.5k when engaged to gear 4 at same speed) this big jerk is greatly minimized after the VSD 3 was installed to my AT pica and some times i couldn't even sense the gear shift if my radio is on'ed louder.

Wow.. More Poison again.. But I'm thinking of getting a scangauge II in the near future.. That's what Poison is all about.. U spend some time evaluating how effective it is and you get to enjoy an increased performance.. Of coz not against other vehicles but taking the stock setup as a guideline..
So I always bring gear 3 to a higher rpm so that it won't drop so much.. Perhaps I will try installing VSD in the future too..
I think for the queries that we have for QF, Joey can help us with it.. Coz we can only have possible answers.. In this case, only the experts will have the right reasons and answer..
I'm also looking forward to the new performance package.. Hopefully, it will be affordable for me..

Interesting. Well, mine is a fully stock pica that went for QF. Honestly, i have to aree with picaanyeo that i didn't get any WOW factor. Most difference for me is that the engine is more quiet and dun vibrate that much.
In terms of power delivery, it is pretty much the same, just that it is smoother. used to go by gear 3 to go up MSCP with slight vibration. After QF, vibration was much less.
FC is still the same till now. (About 2months since I've done it.)
Wanted to do more posion, but was thinking maybe should i jus change another model? lol

Hi Guys, just wanna comment on the QF i did few months ago.
same like what Bro Picanyeo said. i was expecting a "woah" feeling when i test after the QF but was disappointed though. However, after driving for a few more days i can really feel the power when i step on my accelerator. It's even better when i off m aircon.
As for FC, mine definitely improve. Used to get 430-450km on 29-30L of petrol. Now can easily hit 500km with my best at 545km on 29L of petrol.
I'm driving a manual F/L Pica.
Cheers

hi princehong, i believe ur's a MT pica? maybe its even less noticeable than AT cars in terms of improvement... like what picanyeo mentioned, we can't compare with other cars with bigger cc... well for my case, i'd also thought of changing away my pica but the mods are actually what that kept me sticking to my pica. my ride has improved and i'm enjoying the drive everytime i crank start that little 1.1L. IMO, to start the commitment on a new car takes much more effort than maintaining the car that one already owns. (much less to say financially) most prob will keep my ride for the next 4 - 5yrs and hope no major faults will fall on it. Cheers!

I feel that would depend how old is your pica.. For me, it's new.. So aft 10,000km I started fitting it with poison.. If you are looking at bigger cc sedans, the price difference can much as much as $10K.. But u certainly won't spend $10K of poison.. In my opinion, since this is my first car, I wanna get a small cc car, with gd fuel consumption, low road tax, low cost.. Everything must be low.. Coz I used to ride a bike and I dun even have to worry bout maintenance cost.. My bike can get 38km/ltr, imagine how much I save on petrol.. But of coz driving is safer, but at a higher price..

Let's hope that QF can help me to achieve my target..

if only pica has a 5th gear for AT... haha i think that pica's cruising speed is around 80km/l for best fc as compared to other cars which is around 90~ 95km/l.
the rpm reaches 3k when traveling at 100km/h... not sure if its the same for MT picas...

In my opinion, ECU tuning is just one of the aspects that you can add to your vehicle.. You can expect to have some improvement but not to the extend where the efficiency of the engine is maximised.. More need to done.. Example of Poison: Cold air intake, Voltage Stabiliser, Grounding, VSD (Spark plug booster), heat shield, aftermarket air filter.. All these gadgets actually work together to improve the overall performance.. Each gadget has its own benefits and functions.. I also started out with my stock pica.. After installing a number of gadgets, the power delivery sure differ from stock.. Clearing slopes and overtaking is easier and engine is less stressed.. Erm.. Please note that I'm not trying to boost about what I have add on.. In fact, I've nothing to boost coz there are very picas who have been further "Zhnged" compared to mine.. I just want to share my views with all the pica bros around here..

i agree with u picanyeo and thanks for sharing. some bros prefer performance and some bros prefer cosmetic enhancements on the other hand. we also have some cool bros who made their picas very attractive and its a monster under that bonnet back to topic, what i know after reading up harmony webbie is that korean cars' pre-set ECU is to have a richer combustion, i.e. ratio of more petrol than air when the ignition takes place. so i suppose QF should work better for korean cars as compared to other countries' makes, when the mixture is optimized for combustion suiting singapore's temperature... does richer combustion means stronger smell from the exhaust?

Hi guys.. Just to share my feedback over the past weekend.. In terms of FC, my first tank of petrol after the QF managed to clock in 364km based on 25.47Ltr of petrol.. So FC is 14.29km/ltr.. And this FC is based on full load with air con coz I've been driving on a full load of passengers throughout the weekend.. 14.29km/ltr is an improvement of 2km/ltr from the initial 12+km/ltr.. In terms of power, I was told by one of our fellow picas that QF takes time to run in.. But what I experience from this 2 days is surprise.. For my pica, from 1 to 2.5krpm, nothing much happens.. Just like normal driving.. But higher power compared to stock.. But after 2.5krpm, if you are willingly to step on it, the power actually comes in.. Before QF, my pica seems to have lost power after 3krpm, but after QF, it just keeps going until 4krpm.. Didn't went on any further.. But the power it exhibits during this range is I didn't experience something like this before QF.. I'm still expecting some changes as a fellow pica pointed out the time needed for run in.. Hopefully, the improvement comes in from the FC.. But overall, if the FC continues to be in the region of 14km/ltr and above, I should say that the QF is really awesome.. It can help you save petrol in the lower rpm, yet give you power in the higher rpm.. I feel that it's a great mod.. Thanks to all the pica bros whom I'm PM in order to find out more about QF.. They have been providing valuable feedback and info which makes me decide to go for the QF.. everyone..
