Hi Kuponut,
You might want to look into the Kerb Weight / BHP / Torque (using 1.6L as platform, recommended for your choice:
1. Hyundai (Hyundai Motor Company)a. Elantra 1195kg / 105bhp / 143nm / Length:4520mm, Width:1725mm
b. Hyundai Elantra HD aka Avante (Local), Hyundai Elantra (HD) SX sedan (Australia), Hyundai Elantra Yue Dong (China)
c. Elantra Touring aka i30
d. 5th Gen Elantra aka Avante (*i think this is the one u referring) 1210 - 1305kg / 138bhp / 167nm (Gamma GDI or MPI Engine) 6sp AT/MT, Length:4530mm, Width:1775mm *longer n wider - same length & width as Forte Sedan, more powerful and torque, body is lighter, saves FC in long run, many accessories up North.
The Hyundai Elantra or Hyundai Avante in South Korea, is a compact car from Hyundai of South Korea launched in Oct 90 for the model year, and now in its fifth generation.
- 1st Gen (J1; 1990–1995) + Facelifts
- 2nd Gen (J2, J3; RD, RD2; 1996–2000) + Facelift
- 3rd Gen (XD; 2000–2006)
- 4th Gen (HD; 2006–2010) - Elantra Touring
- 5th Gen (MD; 2010–present)
The Elantra was formerly marketed as the Lantra in Australia & some European mkt. In Australia, this was due to the similarly named Mitsubishi Magna Elante model. This gave rise to disagreement from other motor manufacturers, and the name was standardized as "Elantra" worldwide in 2001 (w the exception being Korea and Malaysia still selling under the name "Avante").
Naming Disputes:
Mitsubishi Motors of Australia complained that Elantra was too close to its Elante trim level (last used on the 1991 Magna), and Lotus (as well as Kia) in the UK and Europe suggested it was too close to its Elan name, and its Kia counterpart. By 2001, both the Elan and the Elante had ceased production but the Avante's renaming remained necessary as Audi owned the Avant name in Europe.
There are also disputes about the chassis codes for the 1996-2000 model years. Hyundai clearly states that the 1996-98 elantra is an RD NOT a J2. The same goes for the facelifted 1999-2000 version. It has the chassis code of RD2 NOT J3. Information can be seen on Hyundai's online technical site,
www.HMAservice.com2. Kia Cerato (Kia Motors)a. Cerato Forte (local) also known as Naza Forte (Msia) 1326kg / 126bhp / 156nm (Gamma I4 engine) Length:4530mm/4340mm(HB), Width:1775mm(Sedan/HB) Local Variant EX & SX model
b. Koup 1185kg / (Gamma I4 engine) Length:4480mm, Width:1765mm
5sp MT, 4sp AT (6sp AT + paddle-shift as of 2011 model), moderate FC, alot of accessories up North, spoilt for choice.
The Forte shares the same platform as the Hyundai Elantra (HD), though employing a torsion-beam rear suspension in place of the Elantra's multilink design.
Kia has stated that the Forte was specifically designed to target younger buyers attracted to sharper auto designs
3. Chevrolet Cruze (General Motors)Also called Daewoo Lacetti Premiere (South Korea) or Holden Cruze (Australia)
1520kg / 111bhp / 153nm (Ecotec I4 Engine) Length:4597mm, Width: 1788mm (BIG!)
accessories up North can be found as already launched in Msia mkt.
6sp MT, 6sp GM6T40 AT
The Chevrolet Cruze is a General Motors (GM) automobile, spanning two unrelated models. The original iteration, a subcompact crossover SUV, was manufactured by Suzuki in Japan between 2001 and 2008 under joint venture with GM. Since 2008, the "Cruze" nameplate has referred to a globally developed, designed and manufactured four-door compact sedan, which was complemented by a five-door hatchback body variant in 2011.
Badged Holden Cruze in Australasia and Daewoo Lacetti Premiere (from 2008 to 2011) in South Korea, the new generation model does not serve as a replacement for its identically badged predecessor, but rather replaces the Chevrolet Cobalt and Daewoo Lacetti compact sedans. GM phased out production of the Chevrolet Cobalt and its badged engineered counterpart, the Pontiac G5 in 2010, on the introduction of the Chevrolet Cruze in North America.
- In my honest opinion, I would recommend you to take
Hyundai Elantra. As it was crowned North American Car of the Year at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show over the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Passat. 2 new models are being introduced for the 2013 model year; a 2dr coupe & a 5dr HB GT that is supposed to replace the Touring model and will compete directly with the Ford Focus, Toyota Matrix and VW Golf.
- Doesn't mean that this is a forte thread we must say good things about forte... We are always
fair and square de.
