Hi Bros,
With the new MAS regulations and the possible reduction in COE, any bros out there intending to extend Picanto beyond 10 years?
Is it worthwhile to do so and can picanto really last that long?

If we will to extend the COE, how much do we need to pay? based on last mth COE price is it? You have to pay the PQP (Prevailing Quota Premium) to extend COE. It's basically the average of the last 3 COE biddings. You can also pay half of it to extend for 5 more years. But after that, cannot extend further and must scrap. I'm also thinking of renewing COE when it expires in 2015 since I know my pica inside out and it's well maintained... but have to see how.

I will renew the COE for 5 years if the pica is still in good condition. I feel that a car driven for 15 years is more than sufficient in SG.
However, if it has a history of problems, then it's another story. Maintenance fees can be hefty in SG so may as well change to another ride.
I think major factors will be condition of ride and price of COE. Just sharing my opinion.

Gov also coming up with extra charges for buying 2nd car on top of COE, if that works, it should push price further down.

Gov also coming up with extra charges for buying 2nd car on top of COE, if that works, it should push price further down. think hard for prices to come down drastically coz dealers also "eat" in the car at the old price, so most to most is drop 1 - 2 k only. however, no matter what the govt comes up with to cool the coe saga like the housing issue, it will continue to rise without fail as there is still demand. It's like the demand and supply circle all over again. Unless 1 whole month the entire Singapore boycott buying/selling cars, maybe the govt will drop the COE very fast but it only works for awhile coz we Singaporeans very kiasu, cheap cheap must buy mai tu liao! hahahahaahahah!
