funky: dont worry. i used to whack my picanto very constant at 140. ( with 15" rims ) Picanto sure can go up genting bcoz I used to drive my picanto to Thailand too.
remb to change your engine oil b4 gg up and check yr coolant when on the way.
Mine is Auto! =)

I drive my auto picanto to genting twice. So far no problem. If some road at genting too steep, just drive without aircon.

thanks guy for your advice i've just done my servicing. changed my engine oil and added new coolant and changed my mtf. currently running on 0w40 redline and waterwettter and running on 185/60r14 tyres too. i saw few malaysia picantos up there too. but just afraid it would be harmful to my engine. i shall drive slowly up... =]
ps: any stuffs or things to watch out or becareful when on my way up genting?

I've drove up to Genting on New Year eve with my friend, with only a stop at Ayer Keroh (A&W bridge) for approximately 30mins only. But just be careful when negotiating bends, as there's one steep bend like a '7', very odd angle. But as what a few had advised, chenge EO before going up. And best if you can change brake bad, cos you will understand when you coming down.

If manual transmission when going up gradient do not fear to drop to lower gear and keep rpm above 3K for the pulling power. Because picanto is low bhp, we need to keep the rev going so as maintain power to go up. If auto need to select lower Drive when up slope. There is one corner, up slope and 180 Degrees turn near the top part, for me I used 1st gear to clear. Has any fellow picanto mates went up genting with your ride? Im thinking of bringing my ride up to genting but am afraid not able to make it up? care to share ur experience up genting if any? thanks pal....

I went up genting 6 times last year. Driving auto with 3 adults. From my experience: 1) Keep engine rpm above 3k. 2) Auto trans. O/D button to off 3) Manual switch between the gears 1st, 2nd and D depend on incline. 4) Switch off aircon 5) Top up fuel to about half full before going up to keep overall weight lower. Will be enough to drive up and back down genting.
I did all these enough to go uphill with reasonable speed.

What numbers to call in case of breakdown? Is there a need to sign AAS?

What numbers to call in case of breakdown? Is there a need to sign AAS? I personally never sign AAS. But if you're overly worried then yeah. But driving my 7.5 year old picanto up genting so far no issues at all.

Just back from KL, genting, Bukit tinggi, melacca & muar last two week. My pica was good enough to overtaking others when up to Genting even other branded car.
Priority things to take care: Engine oil, clutch & oil, tyre, brake pad & coolent. Secondary: Head and back light, turn off air con, wiper, hand brake & lock the sterling wheel
If you not really wanna whack ur car engine, smooth drive up to peak will do only waste a little big longer in time.
Just my opinion. Have a safe journey!
