Kinda hard to provide precise advice on ICE as individual's preferences are diff. Wats more impt is to do ur surveys properly and put some serious thots on wat kinda music experiences u wan. Invest wisely and if on tight budget, change components bit by bit (eg get a decent HU, speakers, amp, etc). Dun waste $ by buying average items and subsequently changes them over and over again. Get ur stuffs slowly to build up ur ICE system over period.

If you are not gg for high quality Juz 2 front and 2 back speaker + tweeters (optional) HU dun have to be expensive, maybe ard $300 will do or just use the present one and spend these $$$ on maintenance or helping the needy.

take some time shop ard diff installers & listen to diff brands/models of speakers to see which one suit your preference & budget...a setup with average equipment can also sound gd if the basics r done properly, namely installation, wiring, soundproofing & tuning...

ICE is never ending de. my suggestion for entry level is add in 1 x component speakers and 1 x sub woofer. the tweeters will handle the highs and woofer can handle the lows. the stock sony HU is pretty decent enough so no need to change if you don't need video function.

I will be putting some basic ice mods (active sub and tweeters ) into my ride sometime next week (Thursday !!) anyone who is interested can check out my not too extravagant mods very soon ! I have a friend who happens to be a judge in ICE competitions who also has an audio shop. He has a good ear and he puts together decent budget ice packages.

Search in SGcarmart marketplace or sgsoundsystem.com for ppl selling ICE stuff. If got spare $$, look for 4ch amplifier (pref new) not too exp eg Sony (got ppl selling abt $180) or 2nd hand ones ard $100 to complete your ICE. Can forgo installing rear spkrs as front component spkrs shld suffice. If you don't like underseat sub, can also place in boot. It wont take up much space cos is slim. Anyway under our front seats, there is enuf space to put the active sub and an Amp.

Most underseat subs look alike. Brands i've come across are usually the China/Taiwan ones like Steelmate, Rodek, Phase Audio etc. Saw a Pioneer model but is more exp. Saw a seller asking for $250 and he bought it for $320. If you want those bigger type for the boot, there are many more including passive ones (customised with box) but these need an amp to drive them.

Bro nakshire, wat type of songs do u normally listen to?? i've listen to a Pioneer active sub (thnk the model is TS-WX22A) which gives quite decent bass...however most active sub can only gives u some 'presence' of bass, but it can never produce deep & tight bass like a passive sub...so if u r looking for strong & punchy bass, best to get a passive sub with external amp...can consider shallow mount subs if space is a concern... i was using a steelmate active sub previously, & got it removed within a mth coz the bass was horrible... just my $0.02

Mine sometimes got piak piak sound if music too loud. Can recommend speaker and cost? Thanks Kerwen, the piak piak sound that u r referring to is distortion from the speakers as they r unable to handle the HU's output power...changing to a better set of speakers will definitely resolve that, and also improve the sound quality... as every speakers has their own characteristics, take some time to shop around & listen to diff brands/models of speakers to choose one that suits ur preference and budget... generally, ur HU's output power shd be able to sufficient to drive a simple setup (eg. front components, rear coaxials)...however, adding an amp will allow ur speakers to show more of its potential and will also enhance the sound quality Just my $0.02 Cheers
