Hi all Bros,
Have a query with regards to using 17 x 7 rims for CERATO, what tyre size will be the correct one? Maybe those bros having 17" can share the tyre size you are currently using.
Changing my 5mths old 16" to 17" soon this month. So need the advise urgently.
205 45 17 215 40 17 215 45 17 ?
Appreciate any advise, thanks for reading........

I am using 215 45 17. I dun suggest to use 215 40 17 because this low profile will be too bumpy and will not look that nice on Cerato. Cerato has very big wheel arc and 40 will looked unmatched. If you install 18", then 40 will be just perfect. Regarding 205 or 215, it will be up to you. 215 more surface contact, hence poorer FC but better handling. Btw, be prepared to lost around 1km/litre on your FC.

Hi all,
thanks for the advise bro, think will stick to 205 instead but there will be limited brand and model of tyres will 205 / 45 /17. If you have some good tyres to reccomend, pls advise.
At least I know that the BS GR80 that I want do not have this sizing.
Rgds!

17/205/45 souns the gd... 195 compromise on the road holding, n since u using 205 alr, just stick to it lah.
U getting the taiwan rims ah? I also v gain to get, but i think i cant live with the pickup lose... Cuz i collected my car with 15" rims, cuz no stock for the 16" rims, n after i install the 16", i cbcb until v jialat, cuz car like lagging lol.

BUT 17" damn swee lah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Agreed! I was actually considering 18"... However I dun think I can take the expected loss in pickup. BTW, anyone knows the weight of the 16" that C&C gives? Thinking of changing to a lighter set.

Bros remember you have to consider your orginal specifications when you change wheel size. Ideal is 215/45/R17 which will result in speedo being 1.63% slower than actual speed. Alternative is 225/40/R17, but most brands do not have this size... (only 0.54% faster, difference) 215/40/R17 will result in speedo being 1.82% faster than actual speed. Car will also be more noisy. So not worth it... 205/40/R17 will result in speedo being 3.24% faster than actual speed. 205/45/R17 will result in speedo being 0.21% slower than actual speed. 235/40/R17 will result in speedo being 0.78% slower than actual speed. Again tire size is rare. For detailed info refer to www.1010tires.com/ Recommended is 205/45/R17 or 215/45/R17 The percentages are based on the diameter differences in comparison to the original manufacturer wheel size. Going anything more than 3% out of wheel size is apparently dangerous as the brakes may become weaker, and the load on the central shafts of the steering coloumn due to the diameter difference may not be desirable.

Oh yeah also, if the tires are too wide, aqua planning on a wet day is increased as the car is not that heavy. But dry weather driving will of course result in greater grip. But the biggest a 7" rim can take is 225. Anything more than that you need 7.5" or 8" rims. This may not be good as it will also change the offset of the wheels. This may cause problems for the axle.

Maybe if change to 17", I juz adjust the parameter on my SAFC and RSM to correct the speedo reading....Coz when first setting the RSM, need to input all this data...including rim/tyre size...Tat means my analog speedo reading will be void...Can rite?

No doubt there are lots of brand but so far I check only Dunlop have this size 205 / 45 / 17. The rest are more common with 215 / 45 /17 size. If any bro have other models that you know have the 205 size above, pls let me know as I still have time cos my rims has not arrive yet. Thanks J

Taking over a set of 17" from a friend, actually 16" quite ok with the milage that is why I hope to stick to 205, FC should improve as the 17" is lighter than my current 16". My current FC for Manuel is averaging 12 -13.8km/l which I'm satisfied with... Thanks bro. J
