By the way for the bros who hav remove resonator and still on drop in (K&N for my case), did u all notice gauge tend to go '0' more easily all every gear change..? I used to noticed it at gear 3 more freq previously.. Wonder is it becasue with the less restriction, air flow faster and can high '0' faster at the same time... jemjem

Hi guys. Glad to meet some of the faces behind the nicks. And to some that i din intro myself sorry .. see you all like super busy and concentrating on your task at hand. One question though or maybe two hehe... The drop-in and the open pod filters are for filtering the dirt away that comes thru together with the air right? And for the drop-in you can choose from the stock type and the after market type filters. So what are the difference or benefits between these two types? And the difference or benefits between the drop-in and open pod filters? Thanks! Drop in filters refers to the filter similar to the original paper type that slots into the stock filter box..stock drop-in is made of paper, aftermarket can be stainless steel mesh (Hurricane) or cotton reinforced with wire mesh (K&N)... ..Open pod refers to the cone/ mushroom type filters (Apexi, HKS) can be s/s or cotton also...it totally replaces the stock setup..meaning stock filter box need to be removed..the other type is closed pod (Simota)..also remove stock box..the cone filter is within a cylindrical casing.... The idea of changing to aftermarket, be it drop-in or open pod is too allow more air to flow into the engine..more air (oxygen) better performance..but filtration muz still be good also.. For AT, most say stick to drop-in (Bonzz may hav sumthing to say abt tis ;D)...MT can use open pod with heat shield.. Tks for the deailed explanation !! So auto is best to stick to drop-in with either stock or after market filters. As for CAI which provides a different function is it only applicable to Open Pod or can it also be added to the drop-in setup? Btw, u mentioned close pod (Simota) cone type filter with cylindrical casing, does it mean that it operates/functions like the drop-in setup or more similar to the open pod setup? Thanks again!!

Tat's wat most pple say..AT use drop in..I emphasize, most pple, not all..Coz I knw at least 1 AT using open pod and he hav no complains..Heh..heh.. CAI can apply to both drop-in and open pod or close pod..The basic idea is to get cooler air from outside engine to feed to your engine..via a CAI hose.. Closed pod is actually a small cone filter which is heatshielded by the cylinderical cannister thingy..Tink, more similar to open pod..
