Does anyone encounter this door lock problem before? My left rear door can be locked but cannot unlock by itself and i have to manual unlock from the inner side of the door in order to open the door. Can anyone advise on this? Any update. I have the same issue now. Can let me know where u repair and how much does it close. You can try to Monggo Motions. They were the accessories installer for C&C when I bought my car. Not sure if they are still around. Anyway, it looks like the link has broken. You can also try Lai Huat Ming Kee at Sin Ming Auto Centre or any assessories shop as long as the spare can be purchased.

I have a GPS (Packard Bell) that uses their software too. Updated it twice (must pay!) before they closed down. No way to get updates now as their maps are proprietary. The worse is when the closed down, they did not even bother to update their website and FB to let their customers know...

Just checking now. My car 8 years old now and the radiator was leaking today, so much that it ran dry and disabled the aircon. Strangely the "Car Temp" light did not come on but the temp gauge was at highest level. I believe the engine was close to seizing from the engine noise before I realised what was happening. I quickly topped up the water as it sizzled away. Then restarted the car and observed the top of the radiator to th right was leaking! So can confirm it cost around $150-$200 to replace the radiator? Thanks in advance

The suspension consist of the coil(aka spring) and your shock absorber. The coil absorbs the shock while the absorber dampens it (i.e. to prevent it from bouncing). If you car is bouncing on all humps, (or more than 1.5 oscillations when you press down on your boot), then the shock absorber needs to change. Otherwise from your picture, it is the seal cover that is broken. You can get that replaced I think. Shock absorbers typically last about 7-8 years but mine is 8 years and still ok so far, so it varies Some more I always to go over hump without reducing speed too much so the absorbers get punished more.

When I was driving mostly highways, I could get around 12 km/l and up to 15km on th NS highway! But these days, I am reduced to suburban driving, hence getting around 9.5-10.5 km. If you can reduce the size of your rims, that could yield aboout 1km more. I know because when I first got my car, they gave me a smaller rim because my contracted bigger rims had not arrived. Once it came and I installed it, my FC dropped by 1km! As for all the other "fuel saving" products, I have tried them all. None seem to give me any returns in terms of better FC. I guess if you are constantly carrying alot of passengers, have a full boot and do start-stop driving, I think the FC would be affected also. BTW, mine is Variant II 1.6A (2007 model). Cheers

Bro Mine is a V2 Auto. The driver side door light comes on when I open the door. The keylight lights up when I open the door but extinguishes once I turn the key. There is a glove box light which comes on when you turn on your tailgate light. The fuel light does not come on when you start the ignition. The blinking light is dependent on your alarm. The default one installed my Monggo motion (their alarm dealer) should blink for about 5-10 sec each time you open the door. Cheers

Xta. Your problem is common. I had the same issue with my Sephia, Spectra and Cerato. its a wiring issue. Instead of soldering, they twist the wire instead. That means as the copper corrode, it results in poor contact. My Spectra problem solved by itself when unit was removed to replace the metal link assembly. By doing that they probably re-establish the contact. For the Cerato, my alarm stopped working so I went back to Monggo Motions to check it. They found it was contact problem. After reconnecting, the problem disappeared. Now its ok for a few months already But I am sure it will come back because the old cables were not replaced.

Bro. The car RPM is around 700 at idle. I think you mean when you ram the RPM up to 1000-1500 rpm and you feel vibration? If your car vibrates when at idle (no press on accelerator), check the FICD if car not at 700RMP with aircon off. if it vibrates with aircon on only, check the aircon compensator and adjust back to around 700-800 RPM.
If its ok at idle, but vibrates when you ram the accelerator, then engine mounting is one possible cause but you have eliminated this reason. You can also check the engine timing. If the adjustment is out, there may be slight mis-firng which will cause cause this.
Cheers

The real reason is contact issue. I had this problem after a while with the Sephia, Spectra and Cerato. Apparently, the installer twist the wiring together instead of soldering it. This results in contact issues as the cable ages. Here is the funny thing, after an accident where my old Spectra was sent in to repair a dented door, the problem disappeared when it came back. I presume because they had to remove the door, they also adjusted the wiring. Of course, a less likely reason is what they indicated, a defective locking gun that needs to be replaced.

The original remote that came with the Cerato is installed by Monggo Motions. I was there recently to fix a contact problem and they wanted to charge me almost $200 for a replacement unit! They claim its the last few pieces and will not replenish once its depleted. I opted to continue using my old remote instead. You can google for their address if you really need the same remote. Otherwise, there is a shop in Toa Payoh central near Courts that sells replacement remotes.

Hi While replacing my aircon filter, the mechanic broke the elastic cord that was holding-up my glove box. That's the elastic cord with a metal end that hooks the glove on the left side. Its what's holding the glove back when you open it. Now when I open it, it will hit the 2 rubber stoppers instead which won't last long as they are not designed for constant abuse. The mechnanic tried to get the part from his own supplier as well as Cycle and Carriage but seems they had problems identifying the replacement part. Not sure if this cord is by itself or part of a larger assembly. Next they tried to scrap yard but there are no Ceratos there! (looks like no one is getting rid of this car...which says alot about its reputation ) Nonetheless, I also called MingGhee and they can't help as their spare parts catalog does not show this. Does anyone know where I can order this replacement part? Or anyone scrapping their car and don't need it anymore? If yes do let me know. My mechanic has agreed to pay for the replacement, so any offer can be made to them through me. Do let me know. Thanks and Best regards

Could also be a failing CV Joint too. Your mechanic should be able to identify this. Regards

I think the threadstarter is asking where to change from the long retractable one to the short type. ah.. I see. Then actually any car accessory shop can do this. Unless he is asking for recommendation of any that is cheap and good I usually go back to the original C&C sub-contractor but he's not that cheap..

Hi anyone know where to change those short antenna for v2 it a fixed length antenna, saw a few v2 and avante did. not too sure where to get it. The default antenna for the V2 is usually the extendable long one at the back. How did you manage to have the short one in the first place? If its not giving you any problems, I suggest you stick with the short one. The regular long one sometimes will hit low obstructions in the car park, especially the HDB one with the rain deflector. In anycase, changing antenna can be done at any of the car accessories shops.

My car will get it's door locked when my car started moving off for about 10m after I stepped on my footbrake. Didn't have that auto-lock before. strange. that is supposed to be a safety feature. mine will lock the doors when I step on the brake when they are unlocked and the doors are closed.

if its not by design, then there are 2 reasons it does that. One is the wiring in the system is starting to corrode. mechanics usually twist copper wire together instead of soldering it. As the wire corrodes, it causes contact problem, fooling the autolock into locking. Another reason is a defective locking gun. It intermittently locks or unlocks when shaken during lock operation or when closing the door.
btw. for such situations , just make a spare key at any locksmith. They charge $5-$10. Choose the the flat type so you can keep it in the wallet. Saves space.
cheers

Actually, the cerato's a/c are based on continental cars. Both the heater and aircon compressor is running at fixed max setting. You get the desired temp by adjusting the mixture of hot and cold air via a flap controlled by the temp dial. Once in my previous Spectra, I removed the heater and the aircon was running at max cold all the time! After that I had to install a thermostat to control the temp.

The same problem happened to my Sephia and Spectra. Its normally the plastic piece holding the door lever that's broken. The assembly has to be replaced. Luckily the previous 2 times happened while the car was under warranty. My cerato now coming to 5 years...keeping my fingers crossed that its relialbility is better than the older models!

Its impossible to get that bad with normal usage and missing by a few weeks. This chap probably use non-synthetic oil and did not change the oil at all. The oil filter would have caught all this debris but once clogged, the oil will bypass the filter, so if you want to stretch, use synthetic oil and change oil filter more frequently.

Finally! Congrats man! So in the end it turns out to be a simple oil filter and not something expensive and tedious to replace. Keep on driving the Kia man!
