Hi joey,
My car went into a pothole in malaysia. It was quite a hard hit.
Suspension seems fine.
But the engine light came on shortly after that. I checked with my OBDII and the error code is P2096.
How long does it take to diagnose the fault? Coz i can only come after 2pm on saturdays.
Thanks.

Installed a DIY oil catch tank for 2 months already.
Caught almost 3 soup spoons full of engine oil from the PCV output. Chinese soup spoon if are wondering which type...
Also did a closed loop air intake from the from the airbox to a T-joint, connected to the output of the oil catch tank.
In a sense, the exhaust is noisier but seems i got the car to drive more smoothly. The lag in power when i step on the pedal is somewhat shorter now.
No changes in fuel consumption however.....
The meter clearly shows i am always hovering between 8.9L/100km to 9.5L/100km Quite precise according to how i calculate my fuel consumption of total distance covered divided by the amount of petrol pumped.
The ECU seems to have stabalised thru these few months of my driving pattern.

Hi Joey, whats the time needed for a throttle body cleaning and whats the cost of it?
Forte 2.0 auto
I have trouble at low rpms, like vehicle trembling which can be felt at the pedal and steering wheel.
Thanks in advance. Bryan

Hi Joey, Just went to your AMK for changing of parts. Service was good enough and price was also reasonable. Not the cheapest but the value is there. You can ask your guy about my servicing details, a black forte, 2.0L, came to change rear suspension, springs and engine oil. Your guy has already told me the suspension setup seems "funny" after he tried the car. Anyway cut things short. Asking for your experience in this matter only. I know this is my own problem for being itchy backside and wana try new stuff out on my car. Now i am on this setup. Original Front absorber with original springs, front absorber already 84k on the odo. Rear absorber with progressive springs, both items brought on my own and replaced at your shop. The rear absorber is meant for Elantra, which i think is the common part for Forte and Elantra. When i go over humps, the rear would bounce up and down a few times, compared to only once on the original spring This is in fact more comfortable but to my passenegers, this makes them feel like sitting on a sampan. When i go on the road, the whole car seems to "rock and sway" left and right, not on straight roads but on bends. Passengers cant feel it but the driver does. As my wife says the car is not swaying as a passenger, but once she drive, she agrees with me on it. Question #1 is, is the rear bouncing due to the higher spring rate, which the shock absorber cannot handle? That's why the spring will rebound a few times. Question #2 is, the car swaying more due to suspension setup imbalanced now? Or it is a symptom due to the item mentioned in Question #1? But still hope you can take your time to help on the learning part. Thanks for your support and good compliments. Over and under rated Coil Spring will bounce the car more than usual. The only different is the higher and lower in frequency. But for both cases, a strong shock absorber will reduce the no of oscillation. When turning corner, you feel that the car is like a Sampan, that is body roll. That is to say the your Coil Spring and Shocks are under rated. To counter this, you can have a stronger Anti-Roll (Stabilizer, Sway) Bar for the rear suspension. Thanks for input, the shock absorbers are new, so the bouncy ride is definitely due to the progressive springs effect on the damping. Maybe the entire suspension setup will work out better when i get the matching front progressive springs. Instead of sway bar, i will just revert to the stock linear springs.

This is a crazy vehicle. I got a new job which requires me to get onto cte/sle for 10~11 km then about another 4km to my workplace.
Im getting an average of 150km runs on a quarter tank of fuel only.
So virtually this is a car not suitable for heavy start stop city driving at very short distances.
Anyways thanks for all inputs up to now.

Hi, just sharing what i did for my previous vios.
I drilled a few holes at the BOTTOM side of the headlight. It has a few uses.
1) Let water drip out 2) Let vapour have a path to easily evaporate when switch on headlight. Due to the heat from the bulbs, the vapour should clear very fast.
At first i thought, hot air rises, so the hole at the bottom should not work well. But surprisingly it does let the water or vapour in the headlight clear fast.
Once in the morning, there was some condensation in the headlight. So i start the car, switch on headlight, and voila, i actually see the condensation dry up like i fast motion mode.
I did that coz of the fact my vios was up for scrapping in 2 yr time. So what the heck.....

I have a 2.0 as well. Consumption is the same as yours. My thinking is like this. For cars with a Bigger Capacity, you can see a difference between city and cruising. You see, when we are at 100km/h, RPM is about 2k wheareas a 1.6L will be about 2.5k. In city driving, when there is a red light, a 2.0 burns more than a 1.6 even though both are at a standstill. Ohhh..... maybe thats why many people dun bother to reply me lah.... So mine is pretty normal, so not much point discussing on this kinda topic. I was driving a vios prior to this new vehicle. Absolutely no idea on how this forte should perform. The ex-owner actually downgraded to 16" wheels for increasing fuel efficiency i think. Thanks for your feedback.

I will be changing the stock springs to a new set of progressive springs with stock new absorbers. Shock absorbers still usable but does not take impacts from road very very well already. Im the kind that prefers comfort. Springs going for $60, self collect from me, either my home or at the workshop after my new shocks installation. Shocks will collect at the workshop where i do the change. You may choose to donate me a simple lunch in return for the free shocks. Hi, just bought a 2nd hand forte 2.0 Been driving for around 2 mths, been on one road trip to desaru. Make it short. In spore , tried driving heavy footed or light footed, my best distance on half tank is 200~210km While on the road trip, i already get 200 km when fuel needle is slightly below the 3 quarter mark. I know city driving and long distance driving got difference. But REALLY that big difference? Anyway from what i see, except a voltage stabiliser, all the rest are stock. Unless ex owner go upsize fuel injector, which cannot be seen. Question1 : Forte 2.0 owners, whats ur average fuel consumption Question 2 : Anything special to note for servicing which is different from the 1.6L version. Gam sia in advance.....
