I think the FC for most 2L continental and korean cars are about 9km/L (you probably can get closer to 11km/L with the correct aftermarket add-ons. Reason is mainly the weight the benefit of rigidity and probably stability. Generally, this is the fundamental approach by conti, Korean cars and most of the better designed luxurious cars.
Perhaps, the lighter cars with better FC mostly traded off in terms of rigidity. Unfortunately this is only noticebale beyond 110 which no test drive here can surface. Some of those "feather weight" are only good for city driving. Personally they might not suited for top speed in highway and unfavourable road. Otherwise European, Americans and Korean could have cut the weight long time ago in most of their design.

Hi Hattee! Just making a courtesy call after our meeting this evening! Thanks for being patient. BTW, I did drive the Magentis as a courtesy car when I sent my car for checks previously. Not too bad. A little sluggish in power though. The new Magentis corrects many of the shortfalls in the older model such as no sunglass holder, no front light. Overall alot of improvements. I am taken to compare this with the new Hyundai Avantis which isn't so bad either. Internally just as nice but I felt the Magentis has a more solid feel.
BTW, my 1.6A Specta is giving me 9-10km/l so if your 2 litre can give you 11km, its amazing! My experience driving the magentis courtesy car for a few days indicated FC is around 9-10km/l also.

My apologies for being impatient, almost drove off.
You spotted very fast that upcomings are much improvement from the Korean car makers. Agree stock Magentis like most heavier 2L cars (incl pre-2005 320-series BMW) are lethargic from standstill. Does help with some bleed-air device or remapping. Korean cars are generally rich from idle to 2000rpm.
If you can wait, the benefit of Avante should be further refined in next Cerato. Maybe I am bias - driven Sonata a few times, felt Optima and Magentis are better refined in engine.
Do wish to join you if not of visiting in-laws during weekends.

Hi Dudes,
Now in Korea, there are many new model Korean cars here. The Infiniti looks superb, so sad can't be found in Singapore. I think the Infiniti is the Korean version of Lexus. The new model Carens looks great so are the models of Samsung & Ssangyong. For SUV lovers, the SSangyong Actyon does not look like the normal korean makes. Samsung 3 (1.6) looks better than the new model Avante. Samsung 5 (2.0) & Samsung SM7 (3.0) the same model as the Cerifo but price is half. Kia's 3litre luxury model looks really luxurious, price same as what most of paid for our Magentis.
I understand you guys will be meeting, let me know when I'll try to be there. Be back this weekend

Hi all, this is my first post I went to test drive both the Avante and Magentis yesterday. Now more or less I have decided on the Magentis. Any bros care to guide me along what to look out for before I actually made the final decision and sign the dotted line? Thanks

Recently i called up my SE he told me sales slow. So i think its a good time to ask for freebies out of the normal package.

HI I am currently looking for a car. Set my eyes on the magentis, Can anyone advice what are the typical freebies that I can ask for from the agent. Also, what is the insurance of this 2.0L car, I passed my driving in 1997 and is 31 this year. No demerit points and good driving record. I have been driving all this time, but car under my dad's name.
The SE quoted me $59999, is this worth it or shall i wait till approaching CNY 07 or maybe after CNY. I am in no hurry.
Thanks for the advice guys!

Tks, $55+ is with all the terms and conditions. $59999 is without, So depending on your loan amount, whether you take their insurance or not etc, it will be somewhere in between. Anyway thanks for alerting me the difference. I am just preparing for "worst case" scenario.
