I find that the rear seats for Carens s very shrt, although there is plenty of head room.
Any one have any idea, if its possible to mod the rear seat (eg increase the height of the seat by inserting "legs" ?) Am actually thinking of something like a scissors jack similar to that in the driver seat.
Just saw the new Carens CUV and noticed that the rear seats were raised, giving more comfort to those seating at the back. Thanks

Thanks for feedback. Any idea which shop Zen went to to get the brackets installed ?
Cat : I'm hoping that there is a standard mod that is allowed by LTA.
Otherwise undertand from some parallel importors that LTA charge a bomb to certify mods (eg. when they do non-standard convert goods vehicle to passenger van).

DIY ? you mean that he drilled holes into the chassis and bolted brackets to the seat?
If so, don't think that I will take that route. Prefer to do mods that can be reversed, just in case kenna caught by LTA.
The "cheaper" alternative would be to get a uphosterly shop to make fitted cushions, to increase the height.

But if it raise up this seats using a bracket to existing bolts, that means he cannot flip the 3rd row seats over is it? I recall the 3rd row seats is attached to the chasis by 'butterfly hinges' right?

Now dat i'm not sure how he do it but u r rite if he did not raise d rear part d seats can't b folded but looking @ d mechanism its also posible to close if d rear catch r lifted too. Another way of raising d height hasslefree way is to put a bolster on it

Yup.. guess putting cushion is probably the easier way to 'lift' the seats...

The "cheaper" alternative would be to get a uphosterly shop to make fitted cushions, to increase the height. Fitted cushion also got problem, if you need to change the spare tire can be a bit troublesome as the seat cannot lay flat together. Bolster is another alternative as it is not fix to the seat and are easily removal but may than to move when sitting on it. The bracket thing if not mistaken was only 1 inch high just enough to be able to secure the hook to be second row headrest.....

I finally looked carefully at the fittings, and found that the seats are bolted to the floor. Took some pics, must learn how to attach them to this post.
Anyway, was thinking that the easilest way to lift the seat would be to buy those C shape iron beams that Air-Con / Lighting Contractors use to lower / hang the Air-con compressers that you see in food courts. (ie. bolt one side to the floor and the seat to the other end.
However, wife doesn't like the idea, as she is worried that with the lifted seat, the rear window will be block. (ie. non-mod, head only covers the bottom 1/4 to 1/3 of the window, after mod, will cover 1/2 to 3/4 of the window.)

don't see why not. Only difference is that the seat is higher. Need to ask astro9936 on what tools you need though, since he has removed his rear seats before.

how much do u intend to raise the rear seat? All you will need is spacers and a longer bolt. Should be an easy job at most workshops. If you need a recommendation can pm me.

can't remember size 13 or 14....but can be sure of very easy to remove... but the design a bit stupid...the screw is facing upward instead of down... which will look better after u remove the seat...my 3rd row of seat is currently laying quietly in my store room wrapping up by plastic bag...
