Hi,
Asking this on behalf of a friend who is driving a 1.8 KIA Caren. Does anyone here has any recommendation to where he can get a good and reliable workshop to change for him at a good price.
My understanding is when changing the Timing Belt, it is recommended to change the Water Pump plus Major Servicing. Any other things that he need to change as well?

Hi Guy.
I had send my Carens to CAS for 40k servicing this morning, the service supervisor said the Fan belt is a bit worn. What is the recommeded changing cycle for fan belt. For timing belt is 60k right? What is the estimate price for changing fan belt if I did outside. I don't do my service at CnC any more after 10k.

If I remember correctly, the carens manual states 100K change the timing belt....but I was told that for Korean cars, it's best to change at around 80K mileage....and yes, pls change the water pump as well when changing timing belt..... If your friend wants a good deal, go to Keng Yi Auto at Syed Alwi Road.....Keng Yi is the authorised dealer for Kia, sister company for Song Yi, dealer of Hyundai......they dun do the servicing but can get all the parts required for the timing belt and water pump change......they can also recomend your friend a workshop to do all the changes.... As for me, mine was changed ard 60K++ mileage when my carens went dead due to overheat...claim overhaul and radiator from C&C....but paid around $400++ for the timing belt change....

Bro TohTo, can always refer to manual....however, sometimes we cannot follow blindly to the manual.....if it is true that your fan belt is worn out, you should change it no matter what is the mileage......you can also try Keng Yi Auto to get the parts....confirm cheaper than other workshops....but parts only hor.....they dun do any changing there but can recommend u workshop.....

I recommend this workshop change timing belt at labour cost of $90 - $ 120.00, his name is Gary, tel 91094728, his workshop is at Esso station, Lavander Street Opp, hawker centre. Buy your parts from Song Yi and proceed to his workshop. He is good in Korea car.
