Hello ...... ANYONE still here
Come back ...... I am very excited about this U2 Diesel version Carens !!! And I remember my login password .....
Hi 7seater,
Carens is exciting again. If you still prefer Petrol Engine, the Toyota Wish is the way to go.
As for this Diesel Carens, here are the highlight :
a) The diesel engine U2 1.7L received Best in Class Diesel for Sub 2L cat 2014/15. 3rd or 4th Generation Hyundai Diesel VGT. So, should be OK.
b) The engine do not use Ad Blue Technology, so, not need to keep buying the Ad Blue Urea Solution.
c) Like any diesel engine with high compression ratio for fuel efficiency, it is set low at 17:1. So I presume it is not as noisy as the Taxi engine.
d) Good mileage of 17km/L. Twice the distance as the petrol version. For me, I only need to fill every 2 weeks instead of every week.
e) Diesel Engine is more reliable than a Petrol Engine as their high compression ration requires the engine design to be more rugged.
f) This U2 Engine in Carens is not just Euro5 BUT a Euro6 Engine !!! If LTA change the by-law for special tax, a better chance to get a lower/remain same Special Tax (Road Tax)
Do you know, you can pour your kitchen KNIFE Brand cooking oil into the tank and use it as FUEL ??
Personally, in Singapore, I have ENOUGH of THESE PETROL KIOSK !!! Yes. With OIL at sub 30USD, they are still selling at High Price.
If I switched to Diesel, I have ALTERNATIVES !! Biodiesel or Gutter Oil Diesel or Palm Oil, my friend recently show me a BioDiesel Receipt, 1L for ONLY 45cts in Singapore !!! Petrol Kiosk is selling at $1.10. Nevermind C&C void the warranty, their service is probably the worst in the industry. I not going to do servicing at C&C, why spend 350 for a Oil Change + Filter.
So, my next car have to be a Diesel Powered Engine.
If you are driving a Carens (UN) like me, the seat is lower (by a few cm) and the last row will be slightly even smaller.
As for Kerb Weight, my current Carens 1418KG, the new Carens is probably 1545KG.
Kia MPV is designed for REAL Adult Passengers and Euro NCAP, ave weight 75kg compared with Wish and Stream 50/55kg. What is the problem ? Have you see any bouncy old Stream lately ??
I ferried 3-teens + 6Adults every weekend for meals, all these years never change the suspension.
For that, Carens suspension design is probably more rugged.
The OMV for Jan 2016, C&C received a OMV of $25K from Customs. CEVS is -5K.
I am planning to go for a Test Drive soon, and my Entry Price is Sub 100K all in.
Thing I cannot Tahan about C&C, to buy the car
a) You MUST TAKE their inhouse loan - C&C is not a BANK and it is not governed by the MAS Banking By Law. More like the Moneylending Act, which is actually, legalized Loan Shark.
If you must take a loan from them, take a loan NO MORE than 50K, YOU will be protected under the Hire Purchase Act of 1968.
b) You MUST SELL your car back to C&C appointed car dealer Republic Auto ?? So to SUCK YOU MORE.
Good Luck !!!
Thanks for sharing. So diesel is a good buy for long run. Will consider.
Heard there is a 1.7 diesel Carens just launch. Is this s good buy?
