Hello everybody, I am Husam from Jordan, and its really nice to meet this society of Picanto owners from different countries. I bought my Picanto 2007 LX 1.1 L a few months ago, its my first car, and I love this car very much. I have a lot of questions regarding the performance of Picanto, as I am really dummy in this field, and because here in Jordan we dont have any good car workshop which you can trust. they all work by trial and error, with no knowledge in car mechanics or electric principles. Please forgive my straight language as I have no technical vocabulary regarding cars. The major problem with my car that its very low on Mileage (7 or 8 km/L), no check engine light, no problems on start ups, everything works fine, but it sucks fuel like a monster car. The only note that I have, when its on the second gear (manual transmission), if I released the throttle, it gives a reaction similar to that when u have an empty gasoline tank (no other words to describe this ). I took it to a workshop and he did some computer scanning, and he said that the O2 sensor is not reading, then he took it to another workshop where they said that my car does not have any O2 sensors! and this is the reason of high fuel consumption. Is this possible? a 2007 car with no O2 sensors?

I read a lot of tuning threads here today..it gave me a lot of info.. but nobody mentioned engine swap..Is it possible to do that for a Picanto? with bigger engines like 1.4 or 1.5 L? Another question.. What is the effect of malfunction of one or more of the fuel injectors? while driving, and on the fuel consumption? and thanks in advance

Picanto O2 sensor is mounted at the exhaust header which can be located between engine and radiator. The O2 connector is on top of camshaft sprocket.

Nobody will post engine swap here, in case info gets into the authority the owner will be in deep shit.

injector failure will cause check light on and you can diagnose it yourself.

Thanks Gresini. But what can I do to determine the problem with FC..its too much..?? no check engine light..no problems while driving..nothing. -------------- Regarding engine swap..away from authorities. What are the effects on the car? Lets say..Picanto with 1.6 L engine?

Size of engine must be able to fit in ur bonnet. Max can go is 1.3 or 1.4. Surely can't fit in any bigger engine. Of cos ur pica will have more power... Try changing gear between 2.5k to 3k rpm, clean up O2 sensor n throttle body and monitor. Also, indeed to know wat had e previous owner done to e ride. Tat will give u a better picture to troubleshoot e problem. Another way is to post n ask our Korean car guru Joey from Harmony Motor. He knows his stuff very well.

Swap sensors with another picanto, Hyundai getz 1.1 or i10 to troubleshoot. Overfilled or engine oil too thick will cause bad FC. Old tranny oil affects too.
We shall exclude tyre size/pressure which may affect FC too.
Getz 1.4 DOHC can be an option. But not sure abt its tranny compatibilty. You may consider Honda D16 engine if you are able to align the driveshafts n fabricate the mounting. The slimmest engine I know is Honda K20. But it have long tranny.

please change engine oil and gearbox oil, change spark plugs as well. If your funds allow, please also check your coolant and probably do a full flush inclusive of a full throttle body cleaning including the intake manifold too.
if it still falls below 10km/L, you will need so engine maintenance i.e coil packs, check for compression, misfiring, ECU reset / Swap with another same model Picanto ECU, adjust rocker arms and tappets, clean out your intake air filter, aircon filter, change all belts i.e fan, pulley etc.
U wanna change to a larger engine, it is possible, Google and Yahoo .com will be your best friend for that.

Gresini..Koch..Little Red..thanks a lot for your help. But what about the (no O2 sensors)..is it possible for a car to be without? and how can I trace the O2 sensors myself? --------------------- Also can I ask what would be the best of everything you mentioned? Whats the best engine oil, Gear oil, Spark plugs, Brakes, belts? whats your recommendations? I know that I am asking a lot of questions

I know that I am asking a lot of questions check out your stock exhaust manifold there onward for the pipings, u will see one stick into the exhaust and that would be your O2 sensor...take it out, use carb cleaner and put it back in. If your car has no O2 sensors, u will register ECL or error codes and your fuel will burn like no tomorrow.....

by the way, there is no best EO SP GO or etc, its up to ur individual preference when you "feel" your car while driving it. Like they say, Car and Man must bond and have a greater effect..... its better than being gay IMHO....

Whats the best engine oil? Its not the type of oil, its more on type of lubricating system. Dry sump lubricate better than oil pan, and creates more power. Approach professionals for advice regarding friction modifier. Just change oil regularly.
Gear oil? Change them once a year. Approach professionals for advice regarding friction modifier.
Spark plugs? Get the cheapest avail. Unless you encounter misfire at high rpms.
Brakes? SSBH, reputed pads, service regularly. Avoid mixing different brake fluids.
belts? The best belts doesnt last long. Stick to oem, change every 2 years.
