Dear Team Rio,
One of the bros is willing to sacrifice his Rio to be send to Japan for 2 months to make HKS legalise for Rio. However, we need 30 support to get this done. The cost for the exhaust is $950.
Those interested parties will have to pay a deposit of $500 to Garage R. Once the car returns from Japan, then pay the balance of $450 and get the exhaust fix.
I understand that some of your Rio probably left 3-4 yrs and might not want to waste money on it. However, car prices is going up. You might not know if you are going to renew your COE.
So lets get together and get a legalise HKS for Rio.
Interested, please reply to this thread. thanks

sounds good.. i have a few questions.. 1) so after install may i know what is the noticeable difference? 2) does legalise means certificate will be provided to the owner to be kept in the event need to show during inspection?

Question 1: Nice and loud exhaust note. Performance improvement, not so sure. Some say mid to high end.
Question 2: Yes, you will be issued with a JASMA certificate that comes with the exhaust. You then have to go to VICOM to get it endorsed. Only then it becomes 'legal'. The JASMA certificate by itself is insufficient. These 2 documents should be kept with you in the vehicle at all times. (There's a stamp on the endorsement letter which reminds you to do so).

Hi bro picanyeo, thanks for the detailed answers!
Btw, when I go to Vicom, once they see this JASMA certification, it some sort of complies to LTA regulation and no need to wait for round 2 of endorsement, right?

Yup.. The endorsement letter is issued to you on the spot. So no second round of endorsement unless you are selling your exhaust (endorsement on the other party).

Wow! Exciting times!! Who is this martyr?
Not to rain on your parade BUT, Rio got many versions rt? From my limited observation, different CC or even transmission may have different requirements rt?
Perhaps need to confirm all these points before moving on?

Interesting and might be worth to try it out. Just wondering as to why do they need 30 participants? Kind of a lot to me to get an exhaust system to be approved.

I think it's due to the cost involved. A rio needs to be sent to Japan for the exhaust to be fabricated. Then need to go through the test for LTA.
Maybe the TS will have a better answer but that's what I feel.
