I was pondering over the above question. So this evening I popped up my hood and examine the stock air-intake system. The stock set-up is link to an air-box that is quite big which is in turn linked to an inlet above the radiator.
Question. - As the air inlet is not behind the radiator, can this setup be considered as an equivalent to a cold air intake setup (minus the high airflow and cone filter)? - Can I conclude that this stock setup is going to be better than conventional short ram in our environment?
If my analysis is correct the hybrid pod would be a better solution than short ram and may even be better than actual CAI.?
Then again after examining the stock intake, I thought it was already a very neat setup, and perhaps the only thing I need to do is drop in a knn. ?? What's the diff and how much extra hp will I get out of the hybrid pod compared to the stock with knn drop-in? Enlightenment please......

K&N Apollo Kit is the best choice in my opinion, direct plug and play to your ram-pipe and to your cold air hose.

Hi there, just sharing my thoughts..
Question. - As the air inlet is not behind the radiator, can this setup be considered as an equivalent to a cold air intake setup (minus the high airflow and cone filter)? > Traditional cold air intake funnels are usually located near the bottom of the engine bay. Can be at the lower grill, wheel area etc. This is based on the theory of cold air sinks and hot air rises. Whether the performance of drawing cold air is significant, I'm not sure about this.
- Can I conclude that this stock setup is going to be better than conventional short ram in our environment? > Stock setup good for low end, while short ram would be good for mid-high end.
Enlightenment please......[/quote]
You would need to do a dyno test for this. Best way is to try someone's car with hybrid pod to check it out. But just by changing the panel intake doesn't make the car feel 'different'. The intake system is still the same, just that there is an increase in air flow.
