hey bro, wanna get some advice from you, if i wanna sell my current car and buy a new car, isit better to sell to outside agent, or trade in my car when im buying new car? which is better and easier, and will lose lesser $? also wat are the steps and things that i need to know when selling my car?
Also im confuse, i still have the loan from my current car, so when i sell it, i will need to pay the amount i sold to bank, and fork out the remaining balance rite? den if i buy a new car under full loan, can i include the balance amount into my new car loan?

Bro... ok... 1 qn @ a time...
(Qn 1) if i wanna sell my current car and buy a new car, isit better to sell to outside agent, or trade in my car when im buying new car?
(An 1) if shouldnt make any big difference either u sell to outside agent or 'trade in'. why dont you ask around & compare?
I would think 'trading in' may slightly be better as the new car dealer would want you to buy his car, & as such would try to push the used-car dealer to take in your old ride at a more attractive price...
(Qn 2) also wat are the steps and things that i need to know when selling my car?
(An 2) if you are trading in... then no worry lah, the dealer will settle all the paper work for you... just make sure the selling & buying prices are right... & terms & conditions are spelled out clearly.
(Qn 3) i still have the loan from my current car, so when i sell it, i will need to pay the amount i sold to bank, and fork out the remaining balance rite?
(An 3) Yes... if you still have outstanding loan after deducting your sale proceedings, you will need to fork out cash to cover the remaining balancing loan amount.
(Qn 4) den if i buy a new car under full loan, can i include the balance amount into my new car loan?
(An 4) Yes u can... But do bear in mind that if you are taking full loan for your next ride plus adding current outstanding loan onto it... it will snow-ball to a larger loan amount... are you sure you wana do this?
Generally, buying car now is not exactly a good idea... unless u absolutely need a new ride or that you come across very good deal/ car... do calculate your sums properly....

No commence on Ford, but do note that the maintaiance will be much higher then Korean & Japan made. and the parts were expensive too.... the most expensive jap car was subaru... car price cheap but parts very ex
as what skyray mentioned, drop in to all car agent to cheap especially check on their service package pricing and etc...... if yr current ride engine ok then drive it first lor... at most repair those wear & tare parts first lor.........who knows this could save u tons of moneys.........

if i wanna sell my current car and buy a new car, isit better to sell to outside agent, or trade in my car when im buying new car?
ANS: My advice is, sell the car to outside dealer. They take in at a higher pricing. Private msg me ur details and I can help u fight for highest quote. I sold my old car to KIA FULCO at $11k max if buy a car from them. But my outside dealer take in $17k without buying any car from them. The outside dealer had view my car and quote $17k.
also wat are the steps and things that i need to know when selling my car?
ANS: Call your bank for your total outstanding amount. You shud get some rebates for early settlement. Then hunt for the highest dealer willing to take in ur car at the highest price. If there is a shortfall frm your outstanding amount, u just top up the balance to the dealer and he will settle for u the rest. If u earn a profit after deduction of the sale, the dealer will return u the balance. The dealer will also settle for u all the transfer at LTA. So basically, you dun need to do anything.
Also im confuse, i still have the loan from my current car, so when i sell it, i will need to pay the amount i sold to bank, and fork out the remaining balance rite? den if i buy a new car under full loan, can i include the balance amount into my new car loan?
ANS: It depends how much u are buying for the next car. The banks normally look at the market rates of the car model before issuing hw much to loan for the car. Some agents or dealers allow overtrade to the new car. Ask them and they will advice u on. If u book a car at $80k, and the market rate is about $83k, u can overtrade in new loan up to $85k est.

thanks for your reply. why isit not good to buy new car now? My family are looking at FORD S-max, any bro can comment on this ride? S-max was launched in 2006, new model should be out soon I guess. If you really like s-max, go for the ecoboost, 2.3 is kinda underpower and thirsty. Ford car usually handle pretty well, coz of the good chassis design, too good for the engine to match up... due to mediocre engine performace, ford does not fare well in FC, pretty bad infact... With the new introduction for ecoboost engine and dual clutch tranny, FC should improve. From my past experience with the previous model mondeo, FC is abt 7.5~8 km/l. Replaced a leaked radiator resevior tank within 3 yrs. My bro in-law previous focus model and my colleague who is driving the current focus model, both made more than 5 warranty repairs over the period of 4 yrs. Their FC is abt 9km/l. I do notice ford build quality has improved alot in their new models, hopefully the reliability as well. Basic maintenance for the mondeo if I remember correctly was abt $250 in 2005... not really that expensive as compared to other conti makes. I would suggest you visit fordclubsg forum to find out more abt s-max as my experience with ford is based on mondeo and focus (feedback) There are many models fall within the s-max price range, test them out & happy hunting

bro to upgrade from a MIK 2nd hand Carens to MIJ Stream seems to be a jump.. go for it if you have deep pocket.. For me , its a more a budget constraint when i bought my Carens..as what most bros had advised you.. Work out your sums properly. Just to share. i was also eyeing these other MPV before i decide on our Carens 1) Nissan Presage - very spacious.. but dated model.. cant afford 2.5L road tax too 2) Toyota Wish lah off course.. so many on the roads.. but stilll overprice in my context.. Steering very light as well 3) Mit Grandis and Mazda 5 Go do a comparison before you sign on the dotted line :0

Honda is good. Still alot of pple go for japanese brands. However, if u r buying a brand new car at this time, my advice is... NO. At this moment, the new car price are absurb. Even if u r using the new car for 10 yrs, is also a NO to buy. My friend just book a K5 from KIA. It cost him $120k est. This price, when COE is low, u can buy a 3 series BMW with a little top up. Right now COE is high, my advice is either go for 2nd hand or stay hold of ur car and wait for better time bah.

Thanks there is a thread on C4 in mycarforum www.mycarforum.com/index.php?showtopic=1930038All the 3 French makes in s'pore does not have good reliability records. If u r lucky, french car is really nice & comfortable to drive. If u got a lemon, maintenance & parts are expensive.

I bought Carens because the design and the comfort, most importantly, the price (when i got it in 2007) attracted me. That was the most value for money car I could get. Was attracted to the volkswagen Touran 1.4 also, but pocket not deep enough leh

yes... As wat bro sfrtuscani said, ultimately we are just getting a ride that suit our lifestyle, our needs & most importantly, our pocket...
Of cos if we are receiving ministerial salary, then we can buy & maintain any dream ride we want... But in reality, we have to think & calculate properly... Car owning in SG is a VERY expensive act & our rides are a depreciating liability...
