Hello everyone,
My 05 Cerato have 16" wheels by previous owner, since 09/09 I have Kumho KU31 fitted. I am ready to consider options and wonder how much of weight saving if I revert back to original size 195/60 R15 tyre and wheels combo?
Anyone has anything to recommend in terms of light weight 15" wheels and good stick tyres?

You might be surprised. The original 15" steelies with plastic caps might be a tad heavier than your current set. A good way is to downgrade to another lighter weight aftermarket 15"s.

I have downgraded from 16 inch stock rims with Kumho KU31 to replica 15 inch Advan RG2 and Eagle F1 195/55/15.
Pros: Pickup faster, lighter and FC improves
Cons: Some pple might find it weird cuz the rims looks so small.

Loving it all this while on 15". Of course initially like seem not as stable as profile 205/50/16. Got use to it now.
Very good for my Auto ride now, best thing is mileage improves for me.

most ppl who get rather good mileage on this ride, is when they on 15".

Tks, looks like getting back to original size helps! How is the original 195 section less stable than the 205? Due to tyre sidewall stiffness maybe? headache time trying to decide what to do next

more rubber, wider profile more grip...more stable...if you are not into hard cornering, 195 no problem...buy those aftermarket rims, damn light, one hand can bring up 1 rim plus tyre....hehe

I also thinking of downgrade my 17" (205/45/17) to 15" after market leh. I did lowered my spring (sport spring) so i found it too bumpy with the thinny tyre's side wall. Of coz handling is superb though.

I did use 17" before and definitely the handling is there. Nice on the car but FC and pickup suffers alot for my Auto ride.
But changing to 15" i think recommended to use the profile 195/60/15 as per stated. Mine using 195/55/15 and fender gap spacing is 3 fingers front and back.
Definitely less bumpy...

hmmm, yea, initially you should just change to aftermarket rims (dual PCD not alot but enough to chose from) and and set of rubbers. If you are still looking to upkeep this car, changing 15" tires are cheaper.
I myself have a hard time offloading my stock 16" rims as the PCD is 114.3 x 4 and only older model Lancer CS3 can fit.
Suddenly an offer came and got pple actually offer to buy stock rims.
I lugi abit on the new Kumho KU31 in which i traded my Yoko DB off.
Thereafter gotta a full set of 15" rims with acceptable tyre at a good price.
However, recently i realised Replica SSR 16" PCD 114.3 x 4 holes WITH SSR caps is out in the market, which makes me wavered abit...hehe

12km/l FC..thats nice! I am getting about 10.5 km/l for my manual. When I bought this car, first thing I did was replace the very worned out Goodyear F1 with the Kumho KU31. And 2 moths later took it on a long road trip up north and really tested myself, the car and the tyres. I don't like the car dynamics when executing fast lane changing at NS highway speeds, but fast sweepers on My trunk roads in both dry and wet are really fantastic with the KU31. In fact with the 16", I really like the straightline stability! Driving in our congested roads, I have no complains except hoping to improve the FC, but I think I want to try 15" now ...

wah .... mine is V1, any difference in engine? I assume car weight about the same. My drives are usually short distances, perhaps more like 80/20 highways/streets and half my driving with 4/5 person... how you get such good returns ah ..wats the secret

normally only me alone.......V2 engine slightly better FC. both cars are heavy and stable. my highway mostly slow moving.......60-80 i pump 240kpa front 230 back. i change spark plugs, do proper maintenance, and do cold air intake to prevent heat loss... 80% of the time i up shift at 2-2.2krpm even though my acceleration i still push, ie the time taken to reach 2.2krpm is shorter. lastly, wash and wax ur car lor....add 2bhp
