I think most normal plugs tips are iron. The main difference is Iridium is one of the hards metal we have and can tehan very high temps, corrosion-resistance.
So they last much longer compared to normal plugs. I think they are rated to exceed 100,000km usage, while normal plugs are rated not exceeding 40,000km. Of course prices are $5 vs $20 per piece. Therefore what it means is that iridium will have minimum reduction of sparking performance thru out its usage life. So minimum engine knocking & low risk of unburned fuel thru out its usage life.
The issue is this... 1. On my previous rides I have never used my plugs to around 100,000km. Maybe kiasu but always change around 50K to 75K 2. I heard there's no existing model for our engine. There is one from Denso but the plug lenght is too short. Not sure if its true; I never found out more for the koup.
With individual coil on plug configuration as in our koup, I think the difference betw normal & iridium plugs is minimum.
Properly the older distributor coil + ign cable setup would have an impact.
