check out Kia Singapore's website: singapore.kia-global.com/stated that for 40k servicing, it will be $243 (Mineral) & $285 (Synthetic). according to the "menu", its the top-of-the-range servicing package and it includes replacing lots of items like spark plugs, brake fluids, all the filters (transmission, fuel, air) and tire rotation too!!

The website is outdated. I did my 40K in April, cost me $330.
Change syn oil (shell Helix Ultra 5W/40) and filter only. Plus some tuning to the ECU, no effect leh.
Need to change spark plug ($40) -- I say no. Need to front disc pad ($207) - I say no Need to change air filter ($35) - I say no Need to battery ($170) OEM - I say no. Need to front wiper (forgot) - I say no.
I can get $68 to change oil + filter in some back alley shop. A waste of money.
My 50K coming.....I think I will go somewhere......

Ya.....initially I thought they would give me free spark plug.....I meaning it is not kinda expensive stuff...... Some more, they never change my rotor when I told them my steering wheel will vibrate when braking....but they say it is a front brake pad problem....which is not under warranty..... Bye Bye CnC..... Change syn oil (shell Helix Ultra 5W/40) and filter only plus some tuning to the ECU = $330!?! WTF...

Ya, i remember they were telling me about $330. I thought that price would have include spark plugs, air filters, change of coolant, etc. Only oil and oil filter than like normal servicing wht, why so much difference? now i am contemplating if i should go back to CnC...... if go autobac just change of engine oil and filter cost less than $88, full syn, if you choose your own engine oil, is also around $110 only...... but warrenty wise, hmmmmmm.... Maybe do at Malasia Kia, will warrenty be honour? The website is outdated. I did my 40K in April, cost me $330. Change syn oil (shell Helix Ultra 5W/40) and filter only. Technically, servicing at elsewhere should not void your warranty, as the manual states that your ride must be regularly serviced as stated in the service manual.... but our last meetup with KIA Singapore states that warranty WILL be voided if your ride is not serviced regularly with them...
But again, most of us do not service with KIA Singapore... but when problem crops up & you talk nicely to them... they will most likely honor the warranty....

Don't think any shop here do that.....Have to DIY and it is probably illegal. Here is my DIY plan: Option 1) Get from Rostra @ www.rostra.com. The website don't sell it. you need to go to eBay to buy. Don't buy the KIA Rondo set as US KIA Carens is Drive by Wire or ETC (Electronic Throttle Control). Try KIA Rio 2.0L set. OR Option 2) Check if our KIA Carens can support ETC by checking the Throttle Body connector. If yes, buy the ETC (USD59~123) and APS (Accelerator Position Sensor) (Unknown) and install. Buy from eBay If ECU don't support. Goto eBay again and buy a KIA Rondo 2.4L ECU with Cruise Control (USD 115). Ah, yes.....buy the Cruise Control Switch.....heee....from eBay. OR Option 3) Even better, build yourself......it is really not very difficult..... Here goes : Step 1) Develop a PID Controller with Overdamping Characteristic Step 2) Use MATLAB to calculate the PID gain. Step 3) Check Ergen value for stability or the Characteristic Transfer Function have not imaginary roots. Step 4) Normalize the transfer function for fix point microcontroller. . . . . Step 378) Driving your KIA Carens with your homemade cruise control is a breeze. Parts Needed: -STM ST7 Microcontroller -Stepper Motor (Fault tolerance) - Some Wires - Rostra Cruise Control Switch d) Aiya......watch your pirated Clash of the Titan DVD laaaa...... I am so lazy these days......... Heee....I hope this info is useful to you. hmm.... maybe i should follow yr servicing style.. i also wan to add 3rd part cruise control lei. u got lobang? Anyways after today's 40k servicing, i have decided not to go back for my 50k, 60k and 70k servicing.
will check if i go back only for 80K major servicing, will they honor my warranty from mileage from 80k to 90k. if no, than i all the way outside WS.
their knife too sharp already....
btw should i change my spark plugs and air filters now or wait till 50K?

Told you so......very ex. Alternate servicing with them. Or simply outside all the way. Spare part izzit that ex. Check your recipit, did you see a warning note about servicing at CC...... Normal Spark - 40KKM : Cost $12 Irdium Spark - 100KKM : Cost $60 According to spec....Air Filter check & change every 5K. But normally 10K change. I change every 20K or every year whichever longer......heeee Flush your engine every 50kkm......recommended by pple here. So I did so at 50kkm......no diff leh...... Ya....one thing.....today newpaper report 38% drop in car sale compare to 2009. And 2009 is 30% lower than 2008. C&C must be very hungry now Anyways after today's 40k servicing, i have decided not to go back for my 50k, 60k and 70k servicing. will check if i go back only for 80K major servicing, will they honor my warranty from mileage from 80k to 90k. if no, than i all the way outside WS. their knife too sharp already.... btw should i change my spark plugs and air filters now or wait till 50K?

Because its major servicing, i prefer to do it at Kia in case they say this and that. Yes, the receipt did stated that they can void warranty if u don go service with them. Anyways, after 40k of driving with no problem, I guess it is not a lemon, so i am not that worry to go outside WS anymore. flushing? I will refrain from doing it unless it is really necessary, like if the car were 8 years old and losing huge FC or something. Think about it, if the thingy poured into the engine can remove really stubborn stuff within 20 mins, what will it do to you engine's gaskets and seals? Told you so......very ex. Actually the void warranty thingy is just a scare tactic. from my experiences, i never go back to agent after 1 year.
why? if you read the manual there are actually 3 types of warranty period:
1) all electronic parts only have 1 year warranty, even the car alarm. these are the parts that would be most likely to spoil and they only provide the shortest time frame.
2) the engine and directly related to engine will be covered 3 years. these engines are not new technology, i almost never heard of engine breaking down within 3 years.
3) some other parts here and there are covered for 2 years.
so my conclusion is, if you are a careful person just stay with them for 2 years, if you dont mind taking a little risk like me, leave them after 1 year. i do this mainly for the electronic parts warranty, and they dont even service those!
my 2cts.

Hi Kia forumners, please advise if there is a need to replace auto transmission fluid at 40,000 km service for Kia Carens?
Can this be changed at 50k km or higher mileage ? because I have been driving my ride quite smoothly without abrupt changes of gears with gentle throttle too.
