hmmm .... so far ... i think only me still going back to Cheat & Con for servicing ... basically i did for a peace of mind ... but frankly ... its becos LK is near my work place ... the damage ranges from SGD200 - SGD400 ... problems still not solved .... car pulling to one side & vibrations at speed of 100km/hr ... reason given ... aftermarket sports rims ... I think you are the only one that had all the mods and getting registered in C&C system. BTW, having whats the size of your tyres? Oversized(read broad) tyres can cause your vehicle to pull to either side of the road. Especially if the additional load on the CV/Ball joint wears it out prematurely. If thats the case, having your wheel alignment checked will be next to useless, as they can adjust it to be as accurate, but lower your car back onto its wheels, hoist it up again, the alignment will be out again..... Maybe you can try T-loan someones rims + tyres and drive around in your car. Straightaway can confirm if its due to rims & tyres. Bernard hmm ... maybe you are right ... will look out for someone to T-loan me his rims ... i also suspect its becos of my wheel spacers ... however the servicing of "tyre rotation" at C&C ... confuse me ... i read the brochure and understand that what they mean by tyre rotation is that they change the two front tyre from left to right vice versa ... all this while i tot tyre rotation means front left go rear right and front right go rear left and rear left go front left and rear right go front right ... skali ... they cheat us just by hoisting the car using the jack and just rotate the tyres by hand on its axle ....

Evo,
What u mention is cross rotation, it would depend on the type of tyre you have. Non Directional Tyres - Front go to rear, and rear can be cross rotated, as tyres don't need to rotate in a fixed direction.
Directional Tyres - meaning tyres can only be fitted and rotate in a fixed direction. Vehicle fitted with such tyres can only do front to back rotation. To do cross rotation for direction tyres means the tyres need to be removed from the rims and fitted to the other rims.
Hope this helps you understand.
Bernard

May I add on somemore. According to Michelin website, I quote "To achieve maximum tyre life and uniform wear on the tyres, you should rotate the tyres by 7,000 - 10,000 kms. For high-powered vehicles, we recommend a tyre rotation by 5,000 kms."

I must say that Cedric is very informative.
I must remember to rotate the tyres at next servicing.
Thanks again, Sebbie.

You should have your tyres rotated each time you service your car @ 10k interval(assuming Syn Oil used). It'll be easier to track when tyres need to be rotated. Most tyre shops will carge $15 to rotate the tyres. Usually the front will go to the back, while the rears are balanced before fitting the to front. Bernard

I have a small problem. My steering will NOT vibrate during high speed. But, will vibrate when stepping brake after certain speed. I mean not really jam brake during high speed. It's just that I don't roll my vehicle slowly when approaching red light. I only step brake when red light junction is nearer., and it'll vibrate. So what could possibly be the problem? What can be done?

Kit, Worst case scenario will be brake disc warpage. Need to remove the brake disc for skimming. Or the steering rack and pinion is damaged. At high speed, the steering is lighter so it will not vibrate, when you brake, there are tremendous feedback from the tyres, brake disc, axle which are linked to the steering rack.... Bring it down for an inspection, safety first...

I had the same problem with my previous Nissan Sunny, the brake disc warp, so have to remove the disc for skimming, also change the brake pump.
1 question ? Have you recently mount curb very hard or run over port hole in high speed, for my old car, i had once mount hard on curb and that is the caused.
Hope my 2 cents of experience will help.... better send for inspection. Take care

For example, after long hours of driving with lots of braking will cause the brake disc to become very hot, so please do not drive straight into a car wash. Water from the car wash will cause the brake disc to cool down extremely fast. Normally, our right foot will be on the brakes, therefore the part that is still clamped on the disc by the pad will not be exposed to water for cooling, disc warpage can occur.... Some of us also like to drive over puddles of water on rainy days to 'wash the under carriage' or 'to spray the pedestrians' , try not to do it so offen as most of the parts below the car is very hot, cooling them down too fast is also not advisable.

What can be done? what goes around comes around.... I have the same problem as Kit, steering vibration during gentle braking after cruising at around 80~100km/h. I went to C&C to get it rectified, the service consultant told me that they replaced the brake rotor for me when i collected my ride. Now feels ok liao. no more vibration.... best thing is..... absolutely free of charge

Hi All Sportage Owners, - Is this car reliable? Anyone had break-down experience?
- How's the build quality? After 1 year, are things start losing, cracking?
- How's the fuel comsuption?
Read the thread of FC but can't figure out what you guys are talking. 320KM per full tank means what? The car's tank is 58L, do you mean you get 5.5KM/L? I will be happy if can get average 8~10KM/L. Anyhow, I still liked the car a lot. It's style and space. Anyone can recommend a good KIA sales engineer? Sportage is priced even higher than TUCSON now. Just visited Ubi showroom last weekend. Selling price is S$62,999. Need advice how much can negotiate and what freebie can get? Sportage vs Tucson. Frankly, I'll advice taking up the Sportage. Had driven both. Sportage has an edge in terms of fuel consumption and power and that contribute to the price being more expensive than Tucson. As I'm in Dubai, I used to go lots of off-road sand duning in the desert. Comparison between both, Sportage has an edge over Tuscon in terms of manouvering through the sand but both sux in uphill driving. I still keep my Sportage for travelling to work but to the desert, now I had got myself a Hummer H3. My 2 cents worth of advice, would be Sportage ahead of Tuscon.
