It should not affect your renewal as you were not the registered owner during the time of offence. However, I advise you to bring along your Transfer paper when doing your renewal and do it at LTA Head office as they are able to access to all your data.
Thanks and safe driving.

I am actually quite good at Motor Insurance and it's claims procedures as I started out this trade in the Motor Accident repair and claim sector. I used to hold a Motor Appraiser Licence until the Authority abolish this rule.
So all, please feel free to ask any question and we can have a good discussion here. It will sure benefit all our bros and sis. Thanks

Hi Joey,
I always wanted to know if we ever got rear ended with a vehicle from Malaysia, what recourse do we have to seek compensation from the vehicle owner? Bearing in mind that the insurance company you are dealing is from across the border. Is it any difference if the accident between the 2 cars takes place here or across the border? Thanks

If you met with an accident with M'sian Registered Car, you are the most unlucky person that day. The MY Insurer plays 'Babodo' with you all the way. Even if they were to pay you, it will be ~80% discount and in Ringgit. There is no different where the accident occurs except that police procedure. My suggestion is if it is a minor accident, just try to squeeze out as much $$ from the MY fellow as possible and than treat the event as stepping on to dog shit... there is no recourse.

That's what I suspected too that you won't be able to recover much back even if it is not your fault. Thanks for the warning and advise.

if you have a claim on OD , any idea how much % will be increase for the premium next yr renewal. NCD = 0% It all depends on how much is the total payout. Easy raise will be at least 50% on the basic premium.

How about the reverse (e.g. Singapore car bang into MY car) ? Does it also mean that MY car cannot claim aganist SGP insurance ? Likewise, in such a situation, SGP car need to report police and insurance ? Thanks

Any accident that involves MY cars, Sg property, injuries (3 days MC and above), Govt Property... must report to police. All accident in MY must report to their Police. All report in MY are written in Malay.... haha, you got to know what they are writing.

Wah ! We are like 2nd class citizens. Those foreign vehicles are like driving in Singapore without insurance whereas SGP cars need to have insurance which even support foreign vehicles.
Hope the SGP authority will impose per day insurance charges for those foreign vehicles entering Singapore. It's a win-win for local drivers as well as opening another business for insurance companies.

Hi Joey, I'm new here.... I have just bought a pre-owned 7yr old Cerato 1.6M HB from a car dealer. Now the car is pending for STA check (scheduled for this Sat) and then insurance. Insurance is quite expensive for me as I'm a first time buyer (No NCD), so I'm looking at Aviva as their offer is alot cheaper then the rest. But I'm concern about the Modification clause on Rims because this pre-owned car comes in 17" instead of the stock 15". The clause reads: In the event of claim the rims must be within the manufacturers specification or reccommandation. Do you have an idea how or where I can find/confirm the manufacturers specification? I tried searching from Kia website, searching online but cant find any....

Yes, some insurance may be cheaper but the coverage may not be as good and easily void the policy due to the slightest illogical reason. According to my knowing, yes, your rims will void the policy.

Do u have contact just in case I do need help so I could need call for yr services. Thank you. For Medical Expenses (bills), you can claim back 100%. For damages/suffering, you will need to seek the advise of a lawyer where he will quantify for you. Time of claim is usually 3-9 months depends on complexity. You can call me if you need more clarification. 96369151
