Just curious to know what's the demographics like for all the Pica owners. It's pretty obvious that we have quite a lot of Picas (on the road and especially on this forum) in Singapore and I was curious to find out how we all spread out.
For my wife and I, the motivation to buy a car was for the added convenience (ferrying parents, buying bulk items etc.) and since the price was good - S$20K for a OPC Pica (Sept 2006), we settled on getting it (cheap and good!). For basic transportation purposes, I have always been riding a motorcycle so there was never a pressing need to own a car - other than to avoid getting drenched in the rain come December time.
How about the rest of you?

well i guess mine is considered quite exp for an opc picanto... mine was at 27k... but nevertheless am still satisfied... at 20 years of age, this shld be a good start for me... able to ferry me to and from work... on thus going out on outings and others... other then that my dad has been using picanto cars for his last 12 years, Kia Rio, Carens and now sportage... i dont find a reason not to trust Kia... n there fore the birth of my pica...

Need a transport that would save me nearly 2 hrs a day compared to if I take public transport to work (south to north to work, and back down the same way after work). Planned and calculated for a car which is value for money (low money), Kia Picanto came up tops from my lists of Jazz/Fit, Sparks, Getz, Lancer and Mitsubitshi I.

erm... picanto is a relatively cheap car to maintain lor, so i get lor...
rather to drive a small car and live like a king, than to drive a big car and live like a begger.
everything about car is getting ex. so unless there's a need, i'll drive my picanto as long as i'm financially able to, or if my work place is that near to where i stay that it doesn't justify to own a car.
my work place is about 1.5hr ride from where i stay on public transport btw...

public transport? its getting worse to worst. . haha
unless your place got alot of bus services or MRT nearby, else its a goner. The people living in the furthest towns does not have efficient bus services.
Example from Jurong to Science park(just 15km away from home), I need almost 1hr - 15mins to be there. West to west only. haha. no choice but to drive. . haiz. .

As for me, I actually targeted a Cerato V2 ... but after careful pondering, I realised that I don't need such a big car ... usually travel alone ... petrol prices still rising ... modding picanto is definitely cheaper than other models ... plus I got a relatively good deal for my 'boi' @ $20k OPC. My workplace is very near my residence ... so it's worth it for me I just wake up earlier, drive to work and do some basic mantainence ( + dozing off in my car ) at my workplace before going into office

Actually, what's the rational of having a norm car + an OPC? Unless one belongs to another person, if not, why shld one be buying an OPC when already have a normal car?

Actually, what's the rational of having a norm car + an OPC? Unless one belongs to another person, if not, why shld one be buying an OPC when already have a normal car? I might have a rationale for that. Example: Normal car = Picanto, cheap, use for travelling from A to B, for house to work travelling, or even long distance travelling. OPC = (for example) Subaru WRX STi, use for weekday evening and weekend chionging, short distance. Since use only for chionging and show-off during those time of a week, less damage in terms of $$$ and to the car. Make sense? I once saw a Cefiro OPC. A bit duh... Then there was this time I saw this Honda S2000 OPC!!! Very duh, since... I dunno, I mean, why get a $17k discount for an OPC when you are ALREADY getting a $170,000 car?! What's the point?!

jurong west(ntu) to lavender. Agreed. If you take 242 to interchange(20mins), train maybe 35mins, mayb 1 hour lah. But bus, I dun think so. cos there is no bus from Boon Lay to Lavender.

ideal car for me.. cheap, easy maintanence, cheap insurance, easy on petrol, easy to handle & park.. the best budget car ever! =)
the cheaper alternative to staying in hostel.. plus the added flexibility.... but ERP and rising petrol prices are just irritating...
