Hi guys, just bought a 2nd hand cerato v2 auto, been getting poor FC (around 7-8km/l) with about 80% urban driving..is this normal? Gear change seems to be ok (change between 2 to 2.5k rpm), engine oil just service by ex-owner about 2 months ago..other than the tyres, any other things I can do to improve FC?

Ur V2 is similar engine with hyundai avante. Fuel consumption cannot be that low. U should service ur throttle body, change spark plug, check air filter.

Are you on 16 inch tyres?
Mine is 6 years old, on 15 inch tyres, on average I get ard 10-10.5km per litre

When I was driving mostly highways, I could get around 12 km/l and up to 15km on th NS highway! But these days, I am reduced to suburban driving, hence getting around 9.5-10.5 km. If you can reduce the size of your rims, that could yield aboout 1km more. I know because when I first got my car, they gave me a smaller rim because my contracted bigger rims had not arrived. Once it came and I installed it, my FC dropped by 1km! As for all the other "fuel saving" products, I have tried them all. None seem to give me any returns in terms of better FC. I guess if you are constantly carrying alot of passengers, have a full boot and do start-stop driving, I think the FC would be affected also. BTW, mine is Variant II 1.6A (2007 model). Cheers

My V2 is serviced & handled by them & being my 1st time with this WS, they have won me over with their attitude. I will pm you the address and who to look for if you decide to go there. Friendly bunch of guys there so no worries =)

Hi, I think you may want to do some checks to determine why the FC is low. But before you do that, just do a recalculation of your FC. Sometimes, it's just a miscalculation. I don't know about cerato's FC, but i reckon it should have a figure of 11 to 12km/ltr? For me, after purchasing my 2nd hand ride, I went for servicing, plus run a series of checks on the car. Did engine flushing (with chemicals). I upsized the rims from 16" to 17" for increased stability.
