Hi all, I just got my 2007 picanto manual...its a wonderful little ride.
However, the clutch is very hard to step on...and when releasing, its not very smooth, like intermittently. I have tried other picanto before, clutch is smooth and very light.
Any bros can advise on what's is the likely cause of it?
Another thing is that my ride is damm thirsty! I only got 10.3km/l!...Im running on 14" rims, tyres pressure checked...think I will change the air filter tomorrow and monitor again..

Thanks man, took your advice and change my clutch cable at harmony motor for $120.
Clutch is much smoother but the spring back is still too strong, does adjusting helps the spring back rate to be softer?

You should highlight to the workshop about the spring back before you leave

Agree with James, if your clutch biting point is high, rev goes high and lack power, it shows that clutch pad is worn. Get the Clutch set replace or your FC will be high and driveability low.

My own exp, clutch feels rough, hard to step. Cable replaced abt 7-80 bucks. Very very smooth, wife complain too smooth cant feel clutch. Adjusted back to regular biting point height but still same. About a mth later feeling back to normal.
Last mth felt biting point shifted, suspect clutch plate worn. Given a thought car exceed 6yrs, >100k already, digged out the clutch set from store and send to Synergy to get it replaced at 120 labour. Car collected, clutch plate not completely worn(Pics can be found in Picanto gallery), maybe spent some money my brain die die want me to think the car feels better.

Clutch biting point is not high, there's no lack of power or clutch slippage...just that the spring back rate is hard..

Clutch biting point is not high, there's no lack of power or clutch slippage...just that the spring back rate is hard.. The spring back power is generated by the Clutch Pressure Plate. Clutch Fork and Pedal lever angle is fix and thus should not be a problem source. I would think that the Clutch Pressure Plate is the most likely source of 'problem' but like Bro Gresini said give it some time and monitor closely.

there is a screw under the coolant area. I used to have the same problem, After i done some adjusting, It is slightly better. The screw looks like a flower shape with black rubber under neath it.

Hi to all Bros,
I'm driving a Kia Picanto 1.1M, July 2006 model. My clutch is giving me problem too, having difficulties engaging the reverse gear, have to try a few times.
I did my regular servicing at Huat Lee yesterday, and the mechanic advised me to replace the entire clutch set. He quoted me $480 for the clutch plate, clutch bearings and clutch cable, and the price is inclusive of labor cost. I found the price to be a bit expensive, so decided to do some research before I commit.
After some googling, I found out from a thread in this forum that Min Ghee is selling the entire clutch replacement parts at $120. However, I will have to find a workshop who is willing to do the replacement. Any bros here got reliable and reasonably workshop to recommend? Thanks in advance. :-)

You missed out oil seal part. Call Synergy for quote. But if only reverse gear have prob u might want to change gear oil to try. If depressing very hard you need to replace clutch cable as well.
