Just checking around what is your time taken to reach 100km/hr in your fortes (4 speed AT) ? My 2nd hand ride seemed to be moving off very sluggishly... My every gear change seemed slow and rough and will auto up gear around 2000rpm... No way to drag further..
Anyone face the same prob? Anything wrong with my ride? Appreciate advise plse..

Hmm.. Did you check the colour of the ATF? You got press hard on the pedal?

Sorry...How to check huh? I did step hard on the accelerator... but the rpm doesn't seemed responsive... quite jialat i feel.. no matter how hard i depress the accelerator, max only 2.2k rpm before change to the gear 2... then gear changes like damn lag... i tried other rides like nissan almera and mitsubishi glx also more responsive than mine..
are your stock rides also the same like mine?
Is there any problem with my ride huh? I highlighted this to C&C during my last servicing and they said my ride seemed ok after he test drive... i don't know what to do also...

Step hard doesn't mean the gear will change.
Your statement ''auto up at 2000rmp'' sounds weird.
A NC engine that outputs 126 bhp and 156 Nm and needs to push a ton vehicle. Don't expect too much.
Your car is for sure no problem.
Lower your expectation and enjoy your ride. Owning a Car is a luxurous now.
If u want a slight improvement in this, do a full flow exhuast with a piggy tune and make your ride ''lighter'' ..i mention slight improvement because your ride is an AT.

Thanks Guardian and Ice fury for your advice!
I have my concerns because in other rides (with a smaller cc,lower hp, and lower torque) that I have driven, the rpm moves up very responsively with a slight tap of the accelerator.. but mine really.... really like cannot make it..
Anyway I will find a day to test drive a new forte in the showroom before reaching a conclusion...

Gear auto up at 2.2k rpm is definitely A BIG PROBLEM.
Probably ATF oil needs to be changed ASAP. IS your gearbox hot?

In your engine, there's 2 round round thing for you to pull out. One is in Red, one is in Yellow. paultan.org/image/kia-forte-engine.jpgPull the one in red. and see how black is it. But from what you say, its more or less the ATF oil needs to be changed. Change it before your Auto Gear Box spoils. I pray not.. Sorry...How to check huh? Bros, just to clarify on my statement regarding the "gear auto up at 2.2k rpm" - what I meant is there in other cars that I have driven or sat in, I'm able to drag till at least 2.5k rpm and beyond whenever i move off from stationary, and could hit 3-3.5k rpm in the next gear... the gear change is also smooth...
But in this ride... i could only drag up to 2.2k rpm, before it auto change to gear 2... gear change also like quite lag ...
miracles - i go for servicing quite timely one.. and i think they should have changed the necessary.. didn't really check after each servicing..

I am quite certain that they did NOT change the ATF oil for you. It's not something that you should change during the regular servicing. A check of the oil only cost you S$30. A spoilt Auto Gearbox cost S$3000. You do the math. Most of the time I hear of such problem is ATF oil. Better safe than sorry. A short google of the problem shows similar results: facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1195349This one shows a gasket issue.. www.crvownersclub.com/forums/14-problems-issues/8070-problem-solved-transmission-slow-delay-change-gear.html3But gear changing at 2.2k is a problem. Just bring to check before any major issue stumbles upon. Btw I think that my core problem is that it changes to gear 2 too fast and the gear change slows down after that..

I would first recommend bringing your car to a Kia dealer to get it checked out. I am sure they will find a way to get your car up to speed as they do for all my aging cars.

Forte's compression ratio is 10.5. What does this means? CR actually is the volume of the cylinder & combustion chamber when the piston at the bottom, and the volume of the combustion chamber when the piston at the top. Inside the engine has cylinder, combustion chamber, piston etc, also contain 1150 cubical of air. 1050 cubical goes to cylinder, where the 100cubical remains in the combustion chamber when the piston moving. That's how CR is calculated, so it's 1050:100 10.5:1 is what we common known.

Based on this CR, what is then the optimal octane of petrol?
