Guys, I just brought a 6yrs old OPC Picanto. I been driving for 2 months without any problem. But was thinking if I should bring it for a servicing to check. I lost the servicing record of the previous owner and I know nuts about cars...
I don't know about any workshop, is it ok to bring to Shell Autoserv for servicing? or should i got to harmony motor as recommend by my friends. I am staying at west area...

You may consider Stamford tyres. So far reviews on Harmony is their pricing abit steep. Personally I will exlcude Autobacs, I heard craps from their salesperson before.

You may consider below checklist:
1. Eng oil/filter - 5-10k 2. Gearoil or ATF - Every year 3. Coolant - Every year 4. Brake fluid - Every year 5. Power steering fluid - Check once a year 6. Air/cabin filter - Every year 7. Brake pads - Every 2 years or if worn earlier 8. Brakelines - Check every year 9. Rotors - Every 5 years 10. All belts/coolant pump - Every 75-85k 11. Valve clearance check/adjustment - Every 5 years 12. Sensors cleaning - Every year 13. Tyres - Every 2 years 14. Tyre pressure - Check every month

But why within 2 months? Servicing is not needed within 2 months unless you have issues / doubts.
As such you can consider going same place (their workshop) where you bought vehicle. That is what i did.

That is what i did. Normally when get a used car. It's better to go ws have a check. Will nv know how previous owner maintain the car.

Does general servicing check these? or must i tell them about it? You may consider below checklist: 1. Eng oil/filter - 5-10k 2. Gearoil or ATF - Every year 3. Coolant - Every year 4. Harmony Motor is not expensive lah. You must compare apple to apple. Cannot go Cold Storage and ask for Seng Siong price. In the end, if you ask Seng Siong to sell you Vegetable that is as 'fresh' as Cold Storage, SS may be selling it higher.
Each workshop has their own strength and weaknesses. You have to experience them in order to find the one that serve you the best. For anyone to say that Prata is much cheaper than Pizza is doing a lot of injustice although both are make of dough.

Luckily Cold Storage still have their supporters. Even better is they never 'look down' on Seng Siong Shoppers (in actual fact I am carrying a Seng Siong Credit Card). Each have their own strength. Never say that SS is better or CS is bad. Can afford and willing, go for what you want most.
The one truth you should know is: Both SS and CS are making profits from you. And I think the higher profit earner is likely SS who is already a $500 million turnover few years ago.

I realised cold storage only open at atas areas, holland, bt timah, tanglin etc. They cant survive in Seng kang, CCK such hdbs areas. Now I understand lah. Tks boss.

Let me share with you more. Situation in business is vis versa. SS also cannot tahan in atas area, that is why they are not there. Each have their own strength. If you are a SS supporter, you will not want to buy from CS. Not because you can't afford. But you think you have a better choice. But you can't say that CS is no good or expensive and their supporters are silly. CS has higher price (not expensive) and they are targeting their group of customers and provide a value service at their standard. As long as CS and SS are providing good service to their clients of choice, they are good business entities.

Hi lazybum, Usually used vehicle, the agent will alter the mileage on the odometer. And for the peace of mind, you may want to consider taking up a major servicing since it is already 6 yrs too. Example - intune.stamfordtyres.com/?page_id=65Go to a workshop that have good reviews and you are comfortable with. and
