Happy New Year Fellow Koupers!!!
I am new to this Forum.
First of all thanks to all whom shared your experience on this forum, after reading all your articles I finally got myself a 2.5yr old Koup 2.0A.
Now for me to share my experience. First thing I noticed on my new ride was that the FC was only about 10kpl. Which is OMG something isn't right, I will talk about this later. The other thing that bothers me was the noise from the tires. The stock tires were not only noisy but also provide little grip when going over puddle in wet weather which is common during this part of the year.
After reading some tire reviews, I settled for Michelin Pilot Sport 3 215 / 45R17. After one week on the road with this new set of wheels, I can tell you this is one good baby. The noise was reduced, although still not as good as the Yokohama DB that I used on my previous ride, but more importantly the performance of the Michelin was nothing short of impressive.
I dont think I want to talk about the Korean stock tires, I will just compare to the Yokohama DB that I am familiar with. Yokohama is quiet and good during most part of the year, but when it comes wet weather going over puddle too fast can cause the tire to lose grip and potentially losing control momentarily. Also during high speed cornering the feeling of the car maintaining a good grip on the road is not really there. Which is why I tend to be a slow driver when it rains.
The past week with Michelin PS3 was totally different, especially when everyday was a rainy day. The tire cuts through the puddle easily and without losing grip, I even tried braking halfway through the deep puddle to check for the grip and the PS3 did not disappoint me. It gives the driver the feel that you are in control. Needless to say the cornering feels good as well especially with the lower body of the koup which makes cornering a breeze. In the past when it rains I have no choice but to stay on the slow lane, but now I just whiz pass everyone.
Coming back to the FC. Anyone drives a Koup 2.0A? Hows the FC for the 2.0A? Before I change the tires I was only getting about 10kpl with esso95, but with the new set of tires I am getting 10.5 to 11kpl. I am not sure if this is due to the tires though or simply because I am whizzing pass everyone.
I hope my sharing on my experience on the tires will be useful for fellow koupers.
