remove the door rubber seal of your door... pull out damn hard depending on how old is your car. can slot back later.
there will be a gap between the A pillar and the metal frame of the door, go to the tallest tip of the pillar and pry it out. strength needed is only like how you open a book.

Ooh, thanks! Ok. From there, how do I go through the dashboard to the cigarette outlet?

What car you driving. A pillor is the one by the driver door right. I hid for a few of my friend car. Check if there is air bag, if no then check if there is a screw that hold the pillow to the frame. There should be a small car cover that you can open with a flat blade.
Stand on the outside of your car (assuming you are routing from driver side). with both of your hand., palm up toward the windscreen and on the a pillow. push toward the center for the windscreen. The pillow should pop out. you should already find also wire and cable clip on the frame of the car.
so from the driver side open the door, need to the hindge of the driver door, very lightly there could be a cover that you can open, if your likely like the forte, it just a cover to the fuse, so just find a fuse that only work (12V) when engine is on and tap from there. you can look for those female cig light connector with lead (red and black) and tap straight from fuse.
If you choose not too. simply route the cable under the steering wheel column, using cable tie and try to high to the centre console where you 12v is.
