Hi there,
You can choose to have either:
1) high temperature brake pads 2) slotted brake disc 3) stainless steel brake hose
Or the 3 of them. For brake disc, my previous pica was slotted from the stock rotors. It's not recommended though. I think it would be better to buy an aftermarket rotor to install.
Hence, you can start with brake pads first, if not sufficient then go for brake disc and hose. But sometimes, it may be cheaper to do the disc and pads because can save on labour or ask for discount.

may I know where to buy pads and disc? Is it advisable to install a full set of performance brakes?

You can upgrade. But a little suggestions here. 1. Brake pad models avail for you to purchase pads of other brands, eg: EBC, Brembo, Bendix etc 2. Brake rotors can be purchased individually in case they worn out. 3. Previous Picantos doesnt have ABS, so performance brakekits will jam your wheels earlier esp during wet weather. Your tyres must be able to handle such braking power. You should increase tyre from 175 to 195 at least. *Picanto weighs 850kg only.

There are these new brakes that self dry. I am looking into getting them for my KIA. It makes a huge difference in bad weather. I had a bad skid last winter and it scared me a lot.

I had a bad skid last winter and it scared me a lot. the purpose of keeping brakes wet on wet weather is to avoid wheels lock earlier due to slippery tyres. What does it mean by self dry? dry even on wet weathers???

I am not sure about the mechanics of it. But basically there is a drying mechanism that prevents the vehicle from skidding on the road. As someone who has span out because of wet weather conditions I welcome the technology to make driving even safer.
