hi all,
recently i noticed that i need to step on the brakes harder to stop the car.. the brake pedal feels spongy and i am worried that the brake pads or somewhere in the braking system is deteriorating... for info, im driving a second hand 2008 stock pica.. only things i changed since i got the car was to change the tires..
Also, my third brake light just went off a few days ago.. is there any way to DIY change the light?

IF im not wrong our Pica brake not so good, well advisable to have it check is it the brake pad, brake oil enough? maybe u would like to consider changing to SSBH stainless steel brake hose ( which i have not change....hehe)
As for the lights im very sure u can DIY it urself, can ask a few bro here to teach you a thing or two.

For your spongy brake few things need to look into, Brake Pads is it almost worn out, Brake Disc condition, Brake fluid condition and is there any air trap in your brake system. As for 3rd brake light just pull down the outer cover and you will see the bulb holder just turn it gently and it will release, all you need to do just pull out the blw bulb and replace with a working bulb.

thanks!!! i have opened up the brake light cover and i think the bulb has fused.. so need to change.. just to check, is there a particular type meant for the picanto or the bulb is readily available off the shelf?
as for the brakes, bro vicente, i only know how to check brake fluid level (which by the way, is ok)... the rest of the checks (checking actual brake pad condition etc), i dunno how to do.. maybe have to go down to workshop and ask..

Spongy brake pad could be caused by the brake fluid in the reservoir. When was the last time you did a complete flush and refill of the brake fluid? As mention by khoo, it could be high chance that air is trap in the fluid hence braking become empty whenever you pump the brake pedal. Need more info can pm me.

Last year my inspection failed due to the left rear brake not effective by VICOM's standard. Nabei, had to quickly go Kaki Bt w/s to service. W/s took out brake drum cover and knock out the dust then apply grease after that hosei liao. Pass. But pay extra for inspection.. Suggest you give Ben a call and drive over to Solutions Garage to check front and rear brakes. If possible, check temperature of brake fluid which I understand should be at a certain temperature to be effective. Safer to do a complete flushing of brake fluid (guess you might not have done at all? ). Don't play the fool with brake system and tyre wear... its a life and death issue. Last time I almost hit the front car on CTE then I so scared, went to fit slotted disc and SSBH coz Pica brakes not that great and no ABS. The braking effect improved tremendously after that!
