Dont mind ask why need to replace crankshaft? Is it due to failure of crankshaft pulley bolt? What is the mileage now?

May not need to change if it is your Crank Timing Sprocket having problem. Can repair that portion of the shaft.

Its quite strange. I thought the crankshaft problem has been rectified when they launched Pica facelift model around 2008. Where they are using the improve version of gearbox and Crankshaft.

My 2cts, overtorque of pulley bolt. Or bolt strength too weak.

I encountered this crankshaft problem earlier this year on my Mar 09 Pica and it was a very scary experience. I was arriving at the 313@Somerset carpark which has a very steep spiral climb to the 6th floor before you get to the parking spaces. Had to stop at the bottom where the barrier is. As I started the climb on first gear after the barrier opened, I found myself having to keep pressing the accelerator more and more and yet the car was moving like a snail even after I have floored the accelerator. I panicked like crazy but luckily the car managed to crawl all the way up. Next morning I sent in to C & C and left the car there. They called about 2 hours later and told me it was the clutch worn out and must replace at about $800. It didn't make sense to me, so I told them to better check again. Later in the afternoon, they called and say it was the crankshaft but they have no stock to replace immediately. I have no idea what they did but they told me to collect the car and that I can continue to drive until the replacement crankshaft arrives. I ended up waiting for 6 weeks and that is only after I called a few times to scold them for keeping me waiting for so long. In the end, I have no idea whether it was finally replaced with a new one, a used one, or repaired but I didn't need to pay a cent. No problems so far but I always worry about the problem coming back again and experiencing that nightmarish loss of power going up a steep slope.

I think I think I think they weld your pulley to the crank end as temporary repair.

Are you referring to the 6 weeks of waiting for the spare part or do you suspect that even now I could be having this welded solution? Scary thought.
