Dear Picantorians... Today when i was driving i noticed that there was a grinding sound coming from the front left wheel that come & goes. It will make the sound when i'm slowing down around 30-20km/h even though when i'm not braking.but when i'm driving fast, the sound is not there & my ride is smooth as ever.but a couple of mths back i did run into a huge pothole resulting in my alignment abit haywire... But it was all good until now... Please advice... Thanks a million!

Advice you go workshop check for any damages cause by the pothole that you encounter.

I took my car to Harmony Motors jurong branch this morning. I must say i was kinda embarassed when the mechanic inspected my car & told me that the brake pads r the culprit coz it was totally worn out.Phew! Was my 1st time there & i must say i like the friendliness of the boss.thumbs up Mr Boss (i didn't catch his name) after that then i get my alignment done.boy was the alignment really off. Again i was impressed by the mechanic at the workshop in Yew Tee industrial park as he really explained ever single thing that he did.although i did have to spend around 300 bucks repairing my ride today, i still feel good knowing that i was not being ripped off.

My ride not lowered... Wen i hit the pothole, both my left front & rear rims were damaged. So do alignment oso can't get the proper angle. Plus the front wheel abit senget, so the mechanic suggested i put on the camber bolt. Some sort of fine tuning the angle i guess. Correct me if i am wrong coz i oso dunno much bout cars. This is based on wat i understand frm the mechanic's explaination

My 2cts. Find out cause of problem instead of correcting the problem thru other means. I rem seeing a post which control arm has crack. I has similar issue b4 on a old corolla, front left wheel dented/tyres flat. After replacing rims n alignment it was ok. If control arm slight bent n camber bolt to resolve, i wonder if the car still safe at critical moment.

Well the mechanic did a thorough inspection of the undercarriage & said that everything else was ok. Just my rims were dented. He did however told me that i need to change my rims & the best that he could do is fix the camber bolt & switch the damaged rims to the rear but this is just for temporary use till i get new rims. Initially i thought of getting 2nd rims but the mechanic said it's better to get new ones coz i wouldn't know the actual condition of used ones.plus he said my ride is still ok to drive, just dun treat the car like a WRX.anyways i'm getting new rims soon coz now got good excuse to give to my CO ;p. But i just remembered an interesting point that he highlighted. He said i could make a police report bout the pothole & can be compensated either from LTA or insurance i can really remember. Is it true?
