hi,
am about to change the tyres on my picanto, which I have been using for 3 years, about 40km mileage. am on 13 inch stock rims. main concern is safety (dry/wet weather), and it will be a bonus if noise level can be low.
am completely clueless about how to choose tyres, and this is made worse by the fact that very little places seem to carry 13 inch tyres, and they need to order. Also, not sure whether can trust their recommendation too, and would like to seek your advice on the following:
1) any idiot guide to selecting tyres.
2) recommendation for 13 inch tyres in terms of brand, model and tyre profile (main concern is safety; car is small so would like to do whatever possible to improve safety)
3) approximate cost and place to change
Many thanks to who can can share with me on the above! =)

General principle is this: If you concern with safety and want good grippy tyres, then you will want to get ultra high performance (UHP) tyres. However, UHP tyres are noisy and not so comfortable. Conversely, if you want comfort quiet tyres, then grip on wet roads cannot be as good as UHP tyres. In the end, I believe it all depends on personal preference and what type of driver you are. If you like speeding, tailgating, and taking fast corners then you might need tyres with most grip, thereby sacrificing the comfort and silence. Personally, I feel 13" is too narrow. 14" and 15" more stability. Our pica's CG is quite high IMHO. Just my 2 cents! Cheers!

Yes, not much choice for 13". If you want to remain the same rim size, can consider Yokohama A drive 165/70 R13 Hope is helpful

The price for Michelin is about there. 14" is $105. Make sure the manufacture date not longer than 9mths.
