Hi guys/gals,
Wanted to service aircon for no apparent reason... Maybe my car is going to be 5 yr old...
So went down to a workshop an ask for quote got to know my aircon fan not moving. Then the mech told me that its wear n tear n nd to chg. But i remembered that when i change my radiator top plastic, my fan is working fine. So told him i come another day.
Went off and found a spot for me to check.. My fan is spinning but when compressor kick in, the fan stop but when the compressor stop, the fan spin..
After long story above, just want to know is our fan like that one or it is really dead.
Thank u for ur time and patience to read my thread.

fan should not move n when compressor kick in, fan then only move. referring to the fans mounted on the radiator right? if i am correct, the ur fan is doing the other way round?

as mentioned by tommy fan shdnt move when compressor kick in, we might br wrong, get a second opinion, can go Markcool and check, aircon dun play play, some parts quite expensive to change, esp compressor

ok, the radiator and air-con condensor, together with the main fan and aux fan works together as a heat management system. Only when heat reaches a certain point would both fans run together- traffic stops, engine under load, and a combination of both with the air-con running. How long did you observe that your aux fan stayed off and then on? Anything amiss when you drive? Cos the saftey factor designed into the heat management system means that the compressor will cut off auomatically when the temperature reaches a crictical point and the fans are not able get heat out of the radiator and condensor fast enough; i.e if a fan died - you'll know this cause the car interior will be hot .......unless something was wired backwards the last time hands were touching your engine bay ..

Skali that guy from tomika, told me my fan dead... And quote me with fan replacement... Then when i stop and check, my fan is working... When compressor kick in, the fan will stop, but when compressor stop, the fan will spin.. In between spin and stop, its like few secs or less then a min...

Notg amiss bro... Aircon still blow cold air.. Maybe going to get second opinion... Where is markool??? Or shud i call jack neo? Wipe here and clean here, so easy... Hahahaha

just my wild guess would it be ur temp sensor faulty? where it can give the accurate temp?

sounds pretty normal to be with the aux fan cutting in and out. So, your fan is working. Next if the sensor is faulty, it wouldn't function and no signal gets send to trigger the aux fan. One way to check is get hold of a infrared thermometer - the type that shoots a red beam. Spot a few areas on the radiator, condensor, water hose etc. You can see a pattern emerging - ie, when fan comes on, there is a rise in temperature, and fan stops when the temp comes down a bit. It could well be 3-4 degrees difference.

As long as your compressor is running, your aircon will blow cold air but the hot part of tyour cooling system may not be getting sufficient cooling. This is through the cooling fins being cooled by the fan. My guess you travel on expressway, so the air current is compensating for your fan but this will not be good long term especially if you are in slow traffic on hot afternoon. The fan turns when the fins are hot which is when you run the aricon. Once it cools down, it will auto cut off. Your description ooes seems that it is reversed. So perhaps so connector has been put in revers as what the others suggested? regards
