I read somewhere where drivers were discussing that different cars are suited for different brands of petrol.. Is that true?
Does the different brands ie shell, esso, caltex or SPC, with the same octane level, gives a different power and fc from one another?
Which is best suited for our fortes then?

I think somewhere in your owner's manual, it states the minimum required grade of RON petrol. Just pumped it will do. I use Esso and sometimes shell. Not much difference..

IMO most petrol clock quite the same. V-power burn n finish fastest for my car (7-9km/L) <-- whack mah LOL! Ron-98 best suited for Cerato (IMO). Esso 95 is good stuff, havent used Caltex b4 and I'm a SPC 95 regular cos its cheap. Once in awhile I use SPC 92 (max $20) + mixture with 95-98.

I always top 40 litres of esso 5000. gives me about 440km worth of run. Shell 40 litres of 95 gives around 420km. IMHO (=

i use esso 92 or 98... dun knw why but 95 just gave me lousy FC. 92 and 98 gives me similar FC average 8 to 9L/100Km while 95 gives me 9 to 10+L/100Km. However with 98 acceleration will be smoother compared to 92.

normal days.. Caltex 95 convenient days.. Shell 95 promotion days.. V power for the price of 98..
up the north days.. V power mixed with petronas 97
imo shell gives me better mileage. but when mixed with petronas... even better.

Probably because i'm travelling in minor roads (with alot of traffic lights) to work everyday. Im using esso 95 and occansionally 98 but both gave me similiar mileages.

I believe my agent gave me some cheapo petrol when I collected the car, but it's FOC so I guess that's that.
Changed to SPC's Levo 95 and I managed to get 7.6l/100km Convenient for me and cheap due to everyday credit card + SPC&U card promotion total 18%

seriously, since day1 i collected back in late June2011, my indicator is always 10.2-10.7l/100km.....only when i drive to Woodlands checkpoint on the highway, then it will go to about 7.4l/100km, after which, it will slowly climb back to 10.2 or 10.4 which is the most constant..... and im not a cheong type driver....any bro can advise what could be the reason or is it normal?

juzmarc, bro ur mileage considered okay, it's normal. look at mine confirm u vomit blood, my average 12l/100km! Full tank hit 450km I already happy liao. Somemore mine is MT. Nonetheless is my mode of destress after a long tiring stressful day of work, the feel of power is there when i pedal it. Doesnt care much of the mileage. But of cos if mileage really hit till jialat jialat then something is wrong. Everyday driving I always leave the water temp mode display to monitor the temp, the rest just for info.

Kiaboi Bro, glad to know it's normal. Thanks for your feedback Wonder if running it in after 1000km will reach its optimum FC

Bro,
No worries that ur mileage will be fine once EO changed to fully synthetic (after 5k service), as now still running under mineral oil.
Think that our forte already "pre run in" already.
ECU very smart, they learn your driving style and will optimise the mileage. Just dun be too stress up monitor it everytime u drive. Just enjoy the ride and the whole process of driving it.

talk about EO, my 1K servicing in C&C, i brought my own EO 10w30 MObil1 to let them change, and i recently asked them what would be the cost if i go for 5K EO change (normal service), the price should be about the same as 1K normal EO change service?

allen5552 Bro, C&C allow own engine oil at 1k servicing? If not, do you have any idea what engine oil they use?
