Hi All, just wanna find out more and the types of ECUs & Piggybacks that are commonly used in our SG markets. I would also like to check with you on the reasons of doing it for the individual drivers as well. Probably you could explains some items like cost, feasibility and probably most importantly the gains from it. I have heard of piggybacks being as efficient but im abit skeptical on this. I have tried Emanage on a civic before and it was a total waste of time....... Only exception was when i used AEM, Mircotech (MTs LTX and LTS series) and Hondata P200. So, any one wanna share the types of ECU mods they do? Im debating because the FC for some stand alone ECUs are like those who owns a fuel station.....

the only type of upgrade u can do for ur ECU for the best benefit in terms of performance and fuel consumption is a full customized ECU parameter setting. THere are plenty of "templates" available in the market that can flash for "power", "fuel consumption", "response" etc they DO work, however some parameters are engine unique and need to cater for the engine itself. injection curves may vary from engine to engine, batch to batch. Esp if different batches use different injectors, another story. the best and most expensive package is to tune it with the template first, then go for dynos and fine tune until shiok shiok. with online data recording u will also know all the settings, values, torque and injection. piggybacks mostly serve to cheat the ECU. after sometime the ECU may compensate for the readings and no more boost. i see all ur little red car, i dont think u need to ask this question however i have not done any.....because pocket not so deep

I did quick flash at HM for $480, maybe those piggyback ECU would cost more than flashing. Didn't really research so much since just a casual driver, not formula 1.
It does make different on the pick up, torque comes in early for the push to accelerate. There is no sacrifice of FC for this mod. Most of my friends who sat in my pica felt the diff and told me, even though i didnt ask them for comments.
There is another type call E-throttle thingy which boost your pickup but consumes more fuel, the mod allows you to choose economy, sports etc ... Think it's not so value for $

e-throttle is for drive-by-wire. mine is still tension cable, is pica e-throttle?
they mostly from sprintbooster to ampify the speed demand thats all.

thks just trying to find out what suits pica coz i am a newbie at this..... QF (Flashing or Reflash as it is known) is like chipping the ecu like Mines, Spoon or Mugen chip etc as far as i know because they come with default MAP settings....but to further fine tune them, i just wonder how it can be done off the EEPROM chip settings itself....

if u are looking into the ecu itself, pretty much everything can be changed. begin of injection, end of injection.... limit values high or low.... only on a theoretical level assuming the software used commonly has access to all of them.
to push the limits normally the fuel limitation curve is lifted upwards....at the expense of FC

er u dont need to change ECU, just look into ur ecu and change the settings lor..... i think harmony motors do it....called FDL or something but im not sure what package it consists of. else can look for www.romtuning.com/services.htmlquite a few fiat owners went there for tuning more ex than QF but don think as ex as sending it to AUST........plus no dyno? hmm

Hi, I'm not really well versed in engine mods as compared to red riding hood. Really impressed by his ability to write an article on how to do up a turbo kit.
Anyway, for ecu for pica, normally pple will go for unichip or QF. Quickflash is an ecu programme that is derived from knowledge and experience gained for that model. It is developed for stock or lightly mod vehicles. Whereas for unichip, I'm sure you know much more than me.
For QF, if your pica is heavily modded, which I assumed so, then it would not be suitable for you. Harmony motors has this street tune package which consists of a custom remap and road tune. Your car will get a tuning that brings out the max for your mods. No dyno is included in the package. That's what I got when I go for the street tune package.
Btw, do you know of any place that does dyno for NA cars? I mean smaller cars..

i think its not so much about spare cash, rather, i kinda feel attached to my Pica........ Not really expensive to send it back to Aust to do a re-program for it. My workshop who does the tuning for my WRX is able to get a good deal. When i upgraded the MAP sensor to 5bar, it was only something like 200 - 300 when we sent it back to Aust. Thanks picanyeo, i still noob at the turbo thingy lol..... but i would like to share the experiences with people so that at least they know what they are stepping into if they decide to go TC. romtuning & harmony i believe do reflash the stock ecu plus a fine tune for the individual cars that have different modifications to it. But end of the day, it is still a stock ECU and i do not think you would pay something like 300+ for a license to flash it, 200 - 300+ for street tune and some misc extra for a dyno tune / run. end of the day, it is going to be at least 500 - 700 for a stock ECU? and it is only limited to the Pica models (in this case we are discussing) Rohmmel does good tuning (seen his tuned car in action), i believe Joey as well from all the feedbacks i have read. All i just wanna kno from you all is that, what ECU you guys are running on in Pica and how is the feedback lol!
