wow, spicy red! nice! i would be getting my platinum graphite hopefully by next Monday. thinking of rebadging the car with the stylized K logo instead and getting a sportier looking grill...if not may explore the option of blacking out the silver line that runs across the grill's border

Bro, I will be getting the spicy red colour. So...your K5 is the one in the Showroom? Saw them replaced Spicy Red with Light Graphite last week. at Ubi? it was a smart black one that i saw last sunday... nice! actually the car carries all the colours rather nicely, imho..

First drive up to KL over the weekend. Quite disappointed with the lack of power (in comparison to the claimed power figures) and high speed stability/braking stability. bro, care to share more? u had problems keeping up with traffic? overtaking? on slope? twists/turns? Lack of power: Can't even hit 200 unless on downslope. On the flats it struggles like hell after 190, still hanging on to 5th gear. In the higher 190s it shifts up to 6th, at this point forget about any more speed. For something with a claimed 165 horses that's quite disappointing. Only two people in the car with two bicycles and some backpacks. Mid-range acceleration (120-180) is acceptable for a 2.0 NA auto, but you gotta floor it to get it moving. That was pretty much my drive back from kl, floor it and keep it floored until the next batch of traffic or the car starts to move around too much. Handling: The car gets twitchy after 180, whether on straights or bends. Also partly due to the numbness/delay in steering response around the dead-ahead position of the steering wheel, makes it harder to do the fine corrections necessary at higher speeds. The car also moves around abit in crosswinds even on a straight. The shift from 5th to 6th in the high 190s also causes abit of a wiggle if you're in a curve. Same if you lift off the accelerator at high speeds. Braking from high speeds is the same. Braking performance is fine, just the braking stability is not there. The car never gets seriously out of shape but moves around enough to make you quite tense if you want to cruise at higher speeds. The car is fine for local driving (except for the road noise, sometimes sounds like my wheel bearings are shot), but on the open road it's not quite the stable cruiser that it looks unless you keep it around 160 and below. My tire pressures were fine and the car was serviced one day before the trip up.

wow! top speed quoted on the brochure for 2L MPI is 202kpm, so you were pretty close to limits. There's quite a bit of up's & down's between JB and Melaka, iirc? Sounds like the K5 struggled uphill?
sounds like the same high speed handling "problems" associated with the soft-suspension Sonata/i45, but the K5's for Singland are supposed to have the high-performance absorbers and springs???
you don't think it's the tires?
hmmm, hope no mistake made swapping a 2.4L sonata for the k5...

Did the steering wheel vibrate at > 180 km/h ? No undue vibrations from the steering wheel. My wheels haven't been balanced since i got the car (mileage 11k now) but i did have them rotated at my 10k service the day before driving up. They wobble abit around 100-120 but seem to settle down after that.

It might or might not be the tires. The stock tires aren't great and do start scrabbling for grip pretty early when pushed hard in tighter turns but seemed ok enough in the sweepers. Maybe they contribute a little to the twitchiness. The car might come with the sportier/firmer handling setup, which i find pretty good for local driving, but i believe the issue is probably a combination of tires, suspension setup and/or geometry, aerodynamics and that strange numbness in the steering. Firm doesn't necessarily equate to stable, but i have to admit the car doesn't really float much when it hits bumps at higher speeds. My last two drives up north to KL and Penang were in crossovers (new model murano 3.5 and cx-7 turbo) and the k5 has the same tendency for the nose to wander around with the addition of a twitchy tail.

Dual exhaust nice, but still have to consider by letting more exhaust out and same air intake, your back pressure will be compromise.
Somemore if the dual exhaust is fitted below the rear bumper like an after thought...wun it be ugly?

BOth N8000 and Efficient grip are comfort based. Of all brands of low rolling resistance tires, only GR90 and Efficient grip comes in 225 45 18. Did consider GR90, but was told Goodyear tire much lighter than Bridgestone. Cheaper too. N8000 is the only nexen model found locally at Soh brother, being a nexen it should be cheap. Dun expect to get much from our stock either. N8000 has similar profile to ContiSportContact 3 and feedbacks suggest its more refine and quiet than KU31 and LS2000 www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Nexen/N8000.htmwww.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Goodyear/EfficientGrip.htm
