Anyone got a call from C&C about updating the remote/key fob? I've got an appointment for next week, just wondering what that's all about. They told me will take about an hour+.

Ohh, I see..in that segment, indeed K5 is quite ok. I was previously wondering why you did not consider Hyundai's option, such as the latest Hyundai Elantra 2012, which uses GDI engine. yup yup...didnt really consider the elantra...actually initially i wasnt planning to get the k5. i was actually at kia to check out their kia soul which i think looks quite funky and cool but after that walked ard the showroom and then i spotted the sportage which i quite like too and finally the k5 which i finally chose. probably if i choose hyundai, it will be the i45...saw a damn nice bodykit for it on the net Ohh, I see..in that segment, indeed K5 is quite ok. Anyone got luck with changing tires to reduce the road noise or would soundproofing be a better option?

First drive up to KL over the weekend. Quite disappointed with the lack of power (in comparison to the claimed power figures) and high speed stability/braking stability.

Hi bro, got my car liao. Just went down to settle the rest of the paper work. Will be collecting my car on 29 Aug thereabouts. Rest of guys who got the optima, can I just ask if your optima came with Rikecool solar films? The reason I am asking is because before I bought the car, I was asking the SE if the car came with solar films and he told me yes...then was reading some forums and found out that some pple said that all Kia cars come with Rikecool solar films installed so no need to ask these for freebies. But when i went down to sign the papers, SE suddenly come and say ohh optimas are tinted in Korea and proceeded to show me and explain to me that its tinted for Korea only and for Spore weather he recommends me to do another rikecool layer which will cost me 1000+. I am quite pissed at this as well as the stupid trade in value of my car... when i was negotiating in May, he said to me i would give u at least a certain amt but I was asking for more than tat. then yesterday when i went down, they give me some bullshit story and now am giving me even lesser than that previous amount they promised...further pissing me off sucks man! the new high spec optima k5 is here but stupid Kia failed to secure a COE for me after 3-4 rounds...left 2-3 more bids left...sian. smsed the SE and asked wat will happen if Kia still fails to secure e COE after 6 rounds (3months) and he just replied he hopes that wont happen and have a nice day... original intention of changing car is due to my baby..currently driving a coupe so wanna change to 4 door car but now...its dragging for so long...i thot they would have e decency to let me know so that at least i can start looking for another 4 door car to buy bro jeff, u got ur coe and car now? think KIA managed to get a few more coe's this latest round (65k)

Bro Jeff,
the k5 comes with rikecool solar film as standard (all C&C cars -Merc, Mit, KIA, Citroen). That's what I was told too.
But my SE don't know which grade of film will be installed.
I've asked him NOT to install in mine. I don't want to risk damage to the demisting heater on the back windscreen should if I have to remove an installed film.
I've more confidence in the film I currently use on my other car. Good value for the dollar, so I dont mind spending a bit more for peace of mind.
You may wish to read elsewhere for others' experiences with various brands of solar film.
The $1000+ recommended to you should be for RikeCool's best grade, so it should be much more effective in heat rejection than the one normally included.
BTW, my SE also agreed to include a set of 3M mats.., but I'm not holding him to it.
We've all waited quite awhile for our cars, and from your posts I can appreciate why you may be pissed..., especially if ur SE is not standing by his promises.
From all user reviews so far, the K5 is a "great" car despite teething issues. So long as ours in Singapore don't give major/reliability problems and KIA/C&C doesn't overcharge on service, I believe we will enjoy our rides. Then all these current "pains" will seem insignificant and will be forgotten...
But now, u will have to decide how to deal with ur SE. Cheers, Bro..

Very optimistic ah bro vt04k5/ lol. Same here only mat and rikecool. Well as for trade in car, I was given the option to fix price upon signing or try to sell before car collection if cant sell then they accept trade in at current mkt rate. I took the first option and got the trade in value in black and white.
bro vt04k5 any plans to change rims/tires? Im considering N8000 or efficientgrip

Hey, Bro... we hv to be optimistic la. otherwise, we can only be miserable..., and we r already putting big $ down on the car. other than PPS (I'll do Amazing Glaze) and solar film (Zen), only thing playing in my head at this time is whether to change the tires. Probly go ahead if tire dealer will accept trade-in for the stock ones. by now u can tell i'm not overly adventurous and tend to stick with what i've tried and happy with, unless something new is meaningfully better and credibly endorsed. Same with tires, so i may stick to Sumitomo, Maxxis, or Advan which I've used on my other cars. Advan Sport is rather ex though. But now that you raise possibilities with N8000 and efficient grip.. U wanna share ur views on these?
