My first car. A beautiful Dark Cherry 2010 Kia Cerato/Forte. Bought it in December 2009. I love her with all my heart but she's as noisy now as she was when i first drove her out of the dealership. Why is it that everytime i drive with the AC on and i touch the accelerator lightly, my car makes a throaty, rattling noise that worsens on the incline and disappears once the car shifts out of first gear? Sounds like an engine noise. Sounds like a child with a chesty cold. The mechanics at the dealership said the noise is called "Pinking". Isn't that something that mainly "old" cars do? But my car was brand new then, and now, only a year old with barely 7000 kms on the odometer! I will be honest. I joined this kia club to see if i can get some real answers and maybe some moral support from people who love their Ceratos/Fortes as much as i love mine.

Its "pinging" bro. Ya true, mostly happen to old cars but urs a brand new car cannot be. If stil under warranty, i strongly recommend go to C&C to get it rectified.

Thanks for the quick responses. As indicated, i took the car back to the dealership and their mechanics are the ones that insisted that the noise is "Pinging". This, after admitting that the noise is not normal and after changing the compressor (because they were trying something out!" lol. After many test drive sessions with various persons at the dealership including mechanics, the salesperson, head of workshop etc, who all admitted they heard the noise and even kept the car overnight (and at one point, for almost a week!), they returned my car to me Free Of Cost as it is well within it's 5 yr warranty, and without any satisfaction to me. I have been contemplating taking this issue to the higher Kia Powers That Be, cuz i don't live in the US, the UK, Asia. I live in the Caribbean, and the insistance that our fuel octane levels r inferior and causing the noise in my car is not satisfactory! Even with my insistance that they compare my car with other Cerato/Forte cars of the same age and mileage, they continue to ignore me. Any suggestions as to what i should do to get their attention for real?
